I'm not surprised that Patrickj is getting the runaround from Manulife when you find yourself having a problem with them. I have a policy for more than 20 years and they treat me as if I don't exist. They had the audacity of having the wrong person as the beneficiary of my life insurance policy. I have never stated this person as the beneficiary and that I don't even know who he is. They seemed to have a hard time getting their acts together. I waited and waited and they never provided a "real" satisfactory answer. I got the feeling they might have lost my original policy documents. I got so fed up with them that I'm now looking to get a new policy from another insurance company.

Without looking at your policy information I would say that you have a whole Life policy. These polices survive on getting a specified rate of return. If the policy does not recieve that rate of return then the shortfall has to be picked up by the owner of the policy by increasing there payments. All of this should be outline in your policy and you should have reccieved yearly statements showing that the policy was not working. If you do file a complaint Manulife will use the fact that all this is outlined in your policy in there defense. If you do want to make a complaint to a 3rd party try he Canadian Life and Health Insurance OmbudService.

Yes... I got your question and submitted it to a person more familiar with this Manulife Canada topic.

I'll mention this to him again.

Sorry for the delay.

This is an excellent question.

I'm going to consult my expert on this and get back to you.

Questions:
Is this a whole life, or universal life policy?
Have you read the terms of the contract with Manulife Canada?

I have a complaint about Manulife.
I have two life insurance policies - and the company says it will be reducing the amount of life insurance coverage, because of low interest rates, and increased insurance costs.
I think this is unfair, and I want to know the best way to file a complaint. It must be with a 3rd party - because I am getting the runaround from the Manulife customer service people.
I'd also like to be able to finf out if other customers are having the same problem, and if any sort of coopperative action is underway..
