OK , I thought she had to send credit card info online with the order so I was wondering how a child had access to that.

Heather's second name was easy. Most collection agents have been members of the Manson family at some point in their lives.

There are 3 legal conditions under which a parent can be found liable for their children's actions but this situation doesn't qualify. A parent or guardian would have to be with the minor when she placed the order or have left such instructions with her. Still, one might question how an 11 year old child, unassisted, was able to obtain credit over the phone.

Anyway, if you don't want to pay Heather Skelterbrain at NCO or DD the $30, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Very unlikely to get reported to the bureaus. Even if it did, you could always submit a short note explaining the dispute to the 2 bureaus to be attached to your credit file.

well I have to tell you all something that has happened back in May of this Year my then 11 year old child order books from Double day with out us knowing till it came to the house, when it came yes I had words with her anyway we sent the books back return to sender,at the end of July she get a bill in the mail saying she owes $5.00 it wasn't much so I had phoned double day and they said they only got one book back, but they would send me out papers stating in got lost in the mail its mind blowing when we sent 2 books back together., but anyway I never got these papers, in the mail so I had thought problem solved. I thought wrong.

Yesterday the phone rings and its NCO asking to speak to my daughter
not knowing who is on the phone my daughter get on the phone and the person at the other end then ask to speak to her mom, I get on the to fine out that $5.00 is now $30.00 and when I explain what had happened they asked me to phone DD and to let them know.
So today I phoned DD and once again she said we will send you papers saying they got lost in the mail , don't worry about NCO . So I decided
it may be in my best interest to phone NCO when Heather answer my call
I tryed everything in my power to explain to her what happened and she could phone DD as I had the name and number of the lady I spoke to at DD, Heather then started yelling at me saying they at DD gave me the wrong info. I had enough of the Yelling I just hung up and I am NOT paying for something I don't have if DD see's this then shouldn't they be the ones Phoning Heather at NCO and explaining this to her Not me ? Am i at fault here?
