There are a lot of good collectors out there. I have encountered nice ones along my way.

We welcome all collection agents on here to explain why everyone should pay the full balances on their debts when they go into R9 status.

I spoke to her boss..again...explained again...that my name is not on this guarentee of debt..that I will not tolerate these calls on my cell phone and at work...and that I am tracing the calls...up to 7 times at my house leaving messages and on my cell phone several times a day...and now I have not heard back anything in over 2 wks...

However, now I am trying to get the charge on my credit card reversed. They threatened to guarnishee my income if they did not rec. payment by 2pm that day..telling me I had room on my credit card to put the entire amt on...they wore me down to where I said go ahead and put $5000 on my credit card...when I arrived back home and found that it was not my debt as they lead me to believe...and that she forged my signature on the authorization...it is all still up in the air..but mastercard says I have a case in getting the charge reversed. After all, it was not me who gave them my credit card info in the first place...its a story for the books,..this one is...

whyme??

You've got copies of the agreement?

Without reading the whole thread.... if you're not signed on the agreement you should be able to prove this to Consumer Protection who will then be an intermediary with the collection agent.

Is somebody stealing your identity?
You should complain to Consumer Protection if you're paying for long distance... You should NEVER pay for a Collection Agencies to contact you.

She called me twice more on my cell phone yesterday. She leaves me messages to call her...I have nothing more to say to her. I have told her repeatedly that MY NAME is not on this guarentee and to call the person whose name is.

I should not have to be changing my cell phone number..but if the calls do not stop I have no choice as i am being charged for her calls and the messages she leaves. Several wks ago when I told her this..she said..fine, I send you the dime it costs!!! Then hung up on me.

At least she hasn't called me at work in a wk now..at least its not an autodialer...I guess I just have to ride this out...but $13 a month in long distance charges from her is ridiculous and I want to be paid back for that...if the calls don't stop I'll start calling them every day and asking for the money...I will never see the money but it will be satisfying in some sense I guess..yes, harass the harasser...unfortunately, I just don't have that kind of time...isn't there a way of getting these numbers to some group who would just love to annoy the crap outa collection agents?

Why not you? You're asking them for it?

Well..the calls are still coming in..at home..leaving me messages and then on my cell..leaving me messages and then at work..where I continue to tell them I cannot discuss this while I am work. Again..my name or signature is NOT on this personal guarentee. Why am I being continuously called?? Because when they initially called me I was out of province and when told it had to be paid by 2pm that day or they would be calling to get the money from my employer I allowed them to put a large amount on my credit card...they did not allow me to get back home and deal with this...they told me it was not their problem I was out of province...so they know they got to me and that if they continue to pressure me..I will cave..like I did from that first call.

However, once I returned home and got copies of the agreement, my name nor signature is on it...yet I am being called up to 4x a day..in fact 7x one day last wk. She will not listen to me. I am now having the calls traced on my home phone and will need to change my cell number. She also calls me at work she hangs up on me when I tell her I can't discuss this. The phone is not private. What more can I do...the charges on my cell phone were over $13 in long distance charges from her last bill.

well, I am currently a collection agent at CBV collection services and am slightly shocked at the unfair representation being shown of us in the industry. I am not saying that we are all angels but not all of us are out to make your lives a living hell.

I understand that in some cases it is a computing error, but however you are not going to make me want to fight your case if the first time I contact you you state "How dare this go into collections? this is F***ing bulls***, no you listen to me you stupid b****" etc etc. Sometimes you should listen to these collection agents phoning you, I have gotten several amounts settle for the dispute that the debtor felt they owed.

Now that being said I know several of these collectors that are what we call the hard ball collectors and the reason that they stay employeed is the simple fact that they get the job done despite whatever means they did to get that job done.

And if you refuse to return our phone calls what can we do but call more? or to your place of employment? If we slack off in letting you know about your outstanding debt then when you get a credit file pulled and find out that you have something in collections then you'll call in to bitch that we haven't properly informed you. Either way, we're the bad guys for the simple fact that for whatever reason you neglected your responibilities.

I'm not saying that I never lets say missed a payment on my cell phone or credit card, but the fact of the matter is I dealt with it BEFORE it went into collections. I understand that life happens but if you don't want to deal with collection agencies then perhaps the easiest way to do so is to not be placed in one.

end of story

Well..this hasn't ended by any means. She is still calling me at work. She called my house and when she was told I was at work and not to call me there..she said "Do you know who this is?" And when the person answering the call said "Yes, it is **" she then hung up.

She called me at work and said "I will call you wherever I have to" When I told her I couldn't talk as I was at work..she hung up on me. She called again the next day and said "I need to deal with this today" and again I said I was at work..she hung up.

I have explained to her on several occasions that my name is not on the personal guarentee of this line of credit. She tells me to read it again and before I can say anything..she hangs up on me.

It has now gotten to where I will be doing the same thing to her. I have spoken to my business partner who showed me his cell phone and the up to 4 calls per day that she is calling him just on his cell. she also calls my cell..but again, I am at work and do not have my cell with me.

She is relentless...but I am much wiser than I was from my first calls with her...but she still leaves me shaking and my blood pressure boiling...

I'll keep you posted as to how this unfolds..

I am not personally signed on this debt..however, Collectcorp said it will indeed affect my personal credit rating which she had a copy of in front of her.

She called me again today at work. She now said she had the papers that I requested that showed I was liable for this debt. She faxed me the copies of the share agreement that I laready have copies of...she also sent a copy of an agreement made with my partner dated last Dec. where is personally guarenteeing this the line of credit...I was not aware of this whatsoever and this is the first time I've seen this. All this time, even tho I've spoken to him..I was lead to believe that the original owner still held the debt...either way, in my view, my name is not on this either...so really how does this make me responsible?? Compared to: you buy me a car with your name on the loan and put the registration in my name...who is responsible for making the payments??? Maybe not the same...but it feels like it in comparison...
