I wouldn't file for bankruptcy if these items are ready to come off. If you file for bankruptcy this year, the bankruptcy will not come off your file till 2016.How many debts do you have and were 2005 and 2006 the last time you made a payment on these accounts? If the last time was 2005 and 2006, the statute of limitation has pasted and the creditors can not sue you now. I would wait them out or you can try and settle them.

Whether you pay your debt or not, by law your items will purge off your file six years from the date of last activity or last payment or transaction.

I was looking at my most recent credit report and was wanting to clear something up. It says that after 6 years from the date of last activity on an entry on my report, Equifax will purge the entry.

I have two negitive reports, one from 2005 and one from 2006 (dates of last activity) So does this mean in 2011 and 2012 these entries will be removed from my credit?
