I know when I had something on my credit file that was incorrect I would take the letter of proof and it would get rectified with 30 days.

Monty buy law what a fricking joke! There is no watch dog agaist the credit bureau to slap them on the wrists. The credit bureau's do what they want when they want and who they punish. I don't know how many times a company will back door us from a previous bankruptcy and how many times we have taken it off only to have it slammed back on. The garbage these credit bureaus tell you from one day to the next they can't even keep their stories straight. The credit bureau's cannot even follow their own rules and regulations they set upon themselves. If anything government should be regulating them to do their jobs and start fining them if they dont. Sure people are responsible to keep their credit clean of errors but the credit bureau's don't do their jobs when people request it then what is point of doing it.

By law, everything on your credit reports must be accurate, complete and verifiable.

Yes there are alot of scammers out there - more so in the USA than Canada. But it is like anything else - you need to do some research, ask for references, etc to ensure you are dealing with a company that abides by the provincial and federal laws in Canada. No different than finding a good car salesman!

Yes, you can get stuff off your Credit Report, but only if it isn't factual. There are procedures in which you document all your interactions - with the company, collection agency, etc - and if they can't provide the proof that you received the goods with the understanding of paying, then the Agencies have to remove it due to it not being supported by documentation.

all i know about credit repair is that they are a bunch of scammers. that's what i've read at least.

can you really get stuff taken off your credit report? I would like to hear from somebody who has actually gotten some actual results.

i've got a collection agency who has mistakenly put an item on my credit report. it's completely false. it was for something i didn't agree to in writing. i'm pretty sure about what i'm talking about. i can't get anywhere with the credit bureau the creditor or the collection agency. it's pretty frustrating. i'm trying to get a loan for a car and i'm getting stuck by some bogus collection item that's listed on my credit report.
