It seems that old forum friend and personal admirer "askabillcollector" has cancelled his blog website and opened up shop beside Hamilton, Ontario in Burlington.
His new website,
http://askabillcollector.com/ in sickening self congratulatory boilerplate "branding" plaudits, indicates he's had 28 years of vulturing experience, but he's still afraid to mention with whom. Readers can now see why I was impatient with him when he came on the forum, ostensibly to "help" people. When will people realize that all collectors wear the same feathers? They may try and look professional and polished ["for professionals by professionals," as the website boasts] and they may change colors to suit the environment they are in, but that's about it. Then it's on with the feeding frenzy.

"Askabillcollector" has been a recent visitor to the forum here and fielded questions. Er well, at least he offered to field questions should any be asked of him. As long as we don't ask his name or what collection agencies he works/worked for.
Askabillcollector is a um...well, a collection agent or claims to be. His name is ???? He advertises himself an industry veteran but doesn't say whether that's past or present tense. Nor does he offer to disclose his employer(s). As a man without an identity, perhaps he it would have been more apropos to have monikered his site "askanunknowncollector.com" In fairness, perhaps prudence dictated that he go undercover (or at least incognito) like a 007 spy; afterall, if he really is a collector by day and debtor advocate by night, it would create a pretty incongruous picture - that is unless we are to believe the new image that the collection industry has been promoting as of late.
They are no longer "debt collectors" according to so many of their websites - but rather "debt resolution specialists", debt counsellors", "credit repair alliance managers", "professional debt settlers," Whatever euphemistic personae they've chamelioned themselves into, one thing is certain: They are on your side.. They are there to help you..... They are [gulp!] your friend.
To lend credibility to this rather dubious metamorphism, our "friend", askabillcollector, has posted the following evidence on his site. In this article about private collection agents acting as IRS tax collectors, the claim is made that private collection agencies in (good heavens!) customer satisfaction surveys enjoy a 94% approval rating. That's about as high as Angelina Jolie making a overseas tour on a US Marine base.
Yep! 94%! A+! Bravo! Solid professionalism and customer satisfaction all the way from all the single moms who forked over their grocery money to disabled vets getting their pensions seized. And yet in 2 years, there hasn't been one lousy blogger on this forum who's had a good thing to say about collection agents. We must have gotten the other 6%. Unless by customer satisfaction he means the IRS'.....
