How does Health Canada and the Health Care Budget Work?

Health Canada is a Federal department that is responsible for national public health There are census programs and consultations that need to be performed to know the areas for concentration.

The Health care budget is carefully framed by the government of Canada to meet the health requirements of Canadian citizens and to achieve higher life expectancy levels. It looks forward to achieving the goal in a smart and economical way. For every plan or program meant for improvement of health, there are estimates and strict budgets that are implemented to manage the economy and to develop better health status as well. The application of Management Accountability Framework helps Health Canada manage the funds in a better way and gives way for managerial decisions and accountability for this Federal organization.

Estimates include the terms of resources that need to be used up for various tasks promoting health care in Canada. This needs thorough studies evaluating the effectiveness of the health programs. These studies will let the nation know where the people stand in terms of health and hence the steps for betterment of in specific aspects can be taken henceforth. The finances need to be managed properly within the department primarily for the resources to be best used for the nation. There are audits that are performed in the department level and continuous checks on the processes undertaken, systems and the granted resources for development.

How are Health Care Services Delivered?

Health Canada laid down the following provisions:

Canada's publicly funded health care system is best described as an interlocking set of ten provincial and three territorial health systems. Known to Canadians as "Medicare," the system provides access to a broad range of health services.

When Canadians need health care, they most often turn to primary health care services, which are the first point of contact with the health care system. In general, primary health care serves a dual function. First, it provides direct provision of first-contact health care services. Second, it coordinates patients' health care services to ensure continuity of care and ease of movement across the health care system when more specialized services are needed (e.g., from specialists or in hospitals).

Primary health care services are increasingly comprehensive, and may include prevention and treatment of common diseases and injuries; basic emergency services; referrals to and coordination with other levels of care, such as hospital and specialist care; primary mental health care; palliative and end-of-life care; health promotion; healthy child development; primary maternity care; and rehabilitation services.

    Citizens’ Welfare

The Canadian Government has not been remiss in providing the best health care services to its citizens. After going through the roles and objectives of the agencies concerned and their respective programs, Canadians will be relieved to see a government that is concerned with their welfare.
