They pull all history up by the phone number. Just give them the number, and they'll be able to trace everything back from there.

I spoke to my bank, it seems they can access my account. Go figure. The end result the cheque never cleared my account. Nevertheless, I never wanted a new contract, just a number change. This was done in error by Rogers. They were unwilling to fix it, and I closed the account. Now they say I owe for the remainder of the 2 contract.

Yes I just got off the phone with them. I asked for a copy of the original contract, when I purchased the phone. They told me that they can't. Why ??? They kept giving me the run around, transferring me to a different dept. When I explained the situation, or asked for specific info regarding the account, they could not give me that info.

I asked for all contracts or renewals attached to the phone, ie the ESN#. They again told me they needed the phone #. I would think that they would have all contracts attached to a phone they sold me. I had my original sales receipt a few years ago but it was on heat sensitive paper and was no longer readable.

Their own web page states that it is only a service charge to change a #. There is no need to close one account and open another.

It boils down to they screwed up when changing my #, and as a result I now am on the hook for the balance owing on the second contract. One which should never been opened.

I feel that this method of changing my number was not what I requested. It was done because it would extend my obligation to them for 3 more years, not the remaining 1 year of the original. Furthermore I think the sales agent just wanted he commission for signing a new contract.

How do I force Rogers to submit to me a copy of all contracts (signed) attached to a particular phone, and not just the number.

Have you called the original creditor? Ask for a statement from the original creditor and the collection agency.

Your former bank will still have the information. Go back to them and demand it. They will charge for it, and it will take awhile, but they can get it. They have to hold on to it for more than 4 years.

This was about 4 yrs ago. I closed a Cell account because the provider closed my account instead of changing my # to a new one, and refuse to fix the error. I was unaware there was a problem,. until my phone died and requested an upgrade. They said my account was too new. This made no sense since I had it for over 2 yrs.( The original Account).. They told me I opened it at the time I moved, (when I requested a new number). I told them I did not want to cancel the contract, but needed a new number because I was moving out of the province. I told them that the agent in BC made an error and should fix it. They refused and said I had to wait another year for the upgrade. I then closed the account, and went to a new provider, leaving me stuck with the payout. I paid it in full about a month later. (as stated in the last posting.) The cell provider had sent this account to the collector. I returned to BC and thought this was over. Until I tried to get a chequing account. I was turned down. I was told that it was for the above mentioned. I replied that it was paid. The bank told me to go to the bank that the cheque was written. No luck. This is were the past posting comes in.

The account is now closed and all the can access is the fact that the account existed. The transaction records are archived and not available.

This is what the bank told me. After a certain period records in detail are not available.

Paid debts

Postby zigzag61 » Thu Feb 07, 2008 07:33:50 PM

I have a posting with Trans Union, and Equifax. A debt that was paid to the original company, before it went to collections. I paid by cheque, via the mail. I stopped using this bank and the account later went dormant. after I moved. I never thought about this debt until i checked my credit recently. Since I moved I guess the proof of payment went no were. I have contacted both Trans Union and Equifax, and they replied the the original company did not receive payment.

Since the bank that the cheque was written can not access the account history, I can not see if it ever cleared my account.

As a result I was told I have to re-pay the amount to clear it off my history. I have credit cards which are posted as: "Pays as Agreed".

This sucks. If a cheque is more than 6 months old it is my understanding it is void. Since I can not access the account (bank) what are my options.

Now I am getting Computer Generated call to my cell. I get them about 2 time a day. I do not answer them. I am sick of the constant calls, and the fact I can't even get a chequing accout because of this posting to my credit history.
