Be cautious with that, Guinners. The ombudsmen do not work for you and do not have your best interests at heart. They work for the collection agency, are collection agents, and as such cannot, imo, be trusted.

If they ask you to put anything with regards to the debt in writing, refuse.

hmmm I'm new to Canadian Money Advisors and I'm so glad I found this site...it's been a boon to me over the past week. I've also looked at the other areas in this site. And I've learned more in one week than I have about money and finances in a long while. BUT just wanted to say that I went to CANVO and it looks strangely like this site...I know copying is supposed to be the highest form of flattery but really Canvo...your entire site is premised on what this man(Montyloree) has created here. Isn't that a tad much?

Anyway that's all I wanted to say..that and thanks to those who answered my call. STill not sorted out yet but not as freaked as I was. I am going to call the companies and try the ombudsman route. But I'm still open for advice...I'll take all I can get

If your not happy with the collection agency on how they are treating you,I would call the creditor and talk to senior customer care and see if they can resolve your debt.If that dept can't help call the ombudsman if they have one which all banks do and complain to them.I so far used them twice and both times they help me settle my debts.
