The reaon why the collectors are so rude is because they already have the money and they are already getting paid. Another thing is to them you are a "debtor" not a customer, not a client. Bill collections is NOT customer service. Their job is to collect the debt and that is it, not to be anyones friend because no one will use them as a customer.

Meaning if you had bad service at a resturant and the server was rude, then the restuarant just lost money as you becomming a potential client.

The part of the agency is that they want to make the money in full, no collector will do a settlement on the first contact. They always want to get the full balance as best they can.

At first they will give a deadline that you have to pay in full by the end of the day and they will recommend credit card, walk in and pay or Western union, as they stress urgency!!.

If all you can do is make payments then they will try and get you to borrow the funds from friends or family. ANd if you cannot do that then they will make payment agrangments.

The majority of collection agencies do have contracts with creditors and the company pays them to collect the debt, these are the collection agencies clients. If a collector goes past their monthly quota they get a bonus but it is not much, it is someting like $10 on every $100 over the quota.

I already know this stuff i settled over 12 debts at 10%.I don't think these creditors pay upfront for anything to the agencies it's all on consignment.If that were the case the collectors wouldn't be so rude when they call.I know of some agencies their workers get a salary and those are the agencies that are polite.This company i mentioned has bought my debt from canadian tire and there is no going back to the creditor.I know when debts get sent to lawyers they get money upfront and a commission.Thanks for the input and i wish all debts were handled by the creditor instead of the collection agencies.

Average Joe - As I understand your frustration with the company, not paying them does not always work. The collectors are paid regardless and the agency makes money regardless.

Collections agencies gets contracts from creditors (IE, HBC, Visa, Master Card, Candian Tire, Student Loans....any company that gives credit)

For instance, HBC is paying this ageny $20,000 to collect the funds. now if the funds do not get collected, it does not matter as HBC has alreay paid the ageny. Also not paying just effects you, it does not effect them as the collectors are paid regardless and they do not work on commission. (only get bonus if they hit target quota).

If you do not want to deal with the agency, just go to the original creditor and pay them directly and then you can call back the agency with a receipt number. Then photo copy those receipts and mail them off to Equifax to have your CB updated.

I hope everyone out there is giving this agency a hard time.I would love to see everyone that owes this company a hard time for a few months and not give them any money at all.If people would do that and not get scared of them it could put this company in a bad situation and then they would want to settle for a low amount.I am holding out at the present time and they know i am not scared of them so people do the same they don't deserve our money is they are not going ot respect us when they call us.
