Hey sorry about that! I did misunderstand you! I did ask Debbie for confirmation in a written agreement and be assured that I will keep on her back until I have that written agreement. I do understand that iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency just wants to clear this debt as quickly as possible but at the time I was able to make such huge payments and I thought since I'd been so co-operative with them in the beginning that due to my new financial situation, I thought they would be kinder to me and help lower my payment until I went back to work... Boy was I wrong. I appreciate you clearing this misunderstanding up and I will keep passing this web site on to other unfortunate people that have to deal with the nasties of the world. Thanks!

You misunderstood me. I didn't think you were a iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency agent at all (as they all sound like Wane Macleod or Karen Gonsalves or "Complainer Hater" when they write in).

Quite the contrary, I was concerned about your situation. I pointed out that iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency were baiting a lot of delinquent account holders with the promise that sending in "any old amount at all" in the form of a stream of postdated cheques would make things O.K.

As can seen from some of the alarmed missives by students over at the Canadian Financial Wellness Group forum, there are all sorts of tactics iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency uses to keep delinquent accounts going or get them revived. Unfortunate results generally ensue for the borrower. That promise made to you made by the ombudsman, if it was only verbal and not in writing, would almost surely mean nothing. What was said to you sounded like the crock posted by Julie Ashton last month. When I challenged her on it, she disappeared. In my experience, most ombudsman are just recycled bill collectors who are paid by the company to keep the government off their backs. She's working for iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency , not you.

When people write in, I generally have little information as to the circumstances of their loans. Provinces like Ontario have a bunch of programs involving interest relief with their own eligibility criteria and I would have no way of knowing what applies to who.

Failing that, surely a consumer proposal for less then $640 per month (or $7680 per year) could have been worked out. For a 20K balance that would mean less than a 3 year payment period. Maybe the guys over at Canadian Financial Wellness Group can still help you by gettting more equitable terms in writing for a nominal cost.

Hey Mr. Raymond Jackson... Just to let you know that when your student loan goes to a collection agency you no longer qualify for interest relief... also I'm in Ontario so you all know... and you only get so many times (I'm not quite sure how many months or how many times) to apply for interest relief before they cut you off and ask you to start making payments. I was young and stupid and neglected my student loan for many years after university but have been making payments to iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency for quite some time. the amount of $640.00 is what they wanted as a payment and just for your information my student loan was in the upwards of almost $20 000.00!! I'm just writing of my experience and it was bad but I do feel that by discussing my issuse with someone in the right place may have helped me and I thought that by passing on my experience it may help others. I'm 6 months pregnant and yesterday morning I was under the impression that my house, my vehicle, my life, was going to be taken away from me... so in the long run I came out on a good high last night after talking to the ombudsman and coming to a agreement to help me out. I'm not a iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency agent and nor will I ever be. I do agree it must be a miserable job and think of the miserable lives they must live in order to do that job. Would you say "When I grow up, I want to be a collection agent mommy!" Oh, and almost 4 years of supporting myself as my parents couldn't afford to help me with my post secondary education.

"There are many options out there and any amount you can offer they must take. Send in post dated cheques and document EVERYTHING. Don't let them harrass you! You can win! Thanks again and hopefully this will be my first and last blog about the hateful iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency ! "

Huh? They have to take any amount you can offer? Where did this come from? Blogger, Julie Ashton, ostensibly a iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency agent, posted a similar admonition last month, telling people to send whatever they could in the form of post dated cheques and that iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency wouldn't bother them anymore. What a crock!

I don't know what province you're in, but most provinces have applications for interest relief to cover such situations. $640.00 a month?, Whew! How long did you go to school for?

Please do tell us the name of the iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency collection agent. We'd all love to know!!

You tried to offer payment to them and they refused... Oh my goodness!!

Sound like you had good experience with http://www.nccc.ca.

I'm wondering if anybody else has dealt with them.

I do agree that people should document everything!! It's time consuming but in the long run will give you confidence in dealing with these companies.

Don't Be Afraid Of iQor Collection agency - CBCL !

Postby kenevil » Thu Apr 05, 2007 12:00:00 AM

Hi everyone, I'm new to the blogging thing but I just wanted to write an article saying thanks to everyone who has written blogs about iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency . Today I had (hopefully) my final conversation with an unnamed iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency agent who over the past couple weeks has been very threatening to me. She has threatened to take me to court, call all my creditors and inform them I'm not working at this time (I'm on sick leave from work due to complications in my pregnancy and am receiving maternity leave pay... very minimal maternity pay!) garnish my wages when I return to work in june and not help me out at all. All she wanted was payment in full or me to make a payment of $640.00 monthly. My student loans has gone to collections and I have been making payment on it but in late January I had to leave work as my pregnancy wasn't going to well... all of this she was informed of. I did offer to make very minimal payments until I could return to work but she refused. So today I've been trying to fight her and her harassing phone calls and I've learned quite a bit of valuable info from this site and others as well. I've had her and another agent hang up on me and speak very rudely to me. So today I spent quite a long time on the phone first to The National Credit Councellors of Canada www.nccc.ca I spoke to a lady named Sharon and she was very helpful in giving me info about what credit agencies can and can't do and gave me more info to think about. I then browsed several blog sites on iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency and came across the phone # for the iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency ombudsman. You can reach her directley through iQor, Inc formerly CBCL - Canadian Bonded Credit Limited - Now Iqor Collection Agency 1-800-281-9643 (i can't remember her extention but her name is Debbie Bilowus) I explained my situation to her that I've tried to offer payment and that it was refused and that the two people I've spoken to were very rude and threatening and reminded her that (as I was told so often) the phone calls were being recorded so I could request a copy of them and she would realize I had made an offer to pay and it was refused. She told me not to go that far and that since I was on mat. leave any amount I could offer would be excepted. She is now the one handling my case and she's granted me till I go back to work to resolve this problem. I was also informed not to talk to the two agents that had handled my case previously and that she would handle them. I have documented every conversation and I still do intend to file a claim against this company if I ever get another harassing phone call. My point is don't let them threaten you. There are many options out there and any amount you can offer they must take.
