My contribution to wrestling discussion on a financial forum...

Wrestlers make money.
Some wrestlers get into financial problems and have issues with collection agencies.

We welcome these wrestlers to talk about their problems on

That's all I know about wrestling.
However, one day, a few months back, out of extreme boredom, I did watch The Fight Network. It was amusing for a few hours.

Yes, I saw Tyson's little ringside flap with Bob Sapp a while ago back in Japan. But neither one of those men is to be taken seriously now. Well, Sapp never was, period. It's hard to conceive, watching a young Tyson or a mature Lewis with his reach, his ability to keep his opponents at a distance and the extra punching power from thin gloves that they would have lost too many Pride fights, if any at all.

If you go back to 1976, Ali fought the Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki. You can see the fight on Utube. The match was a farce, Still, if you look at it, Ali, who was the best in the world then (along with George Foreman), looks completely confused, even clumsy, when taken out of his element. He has no idea what to do against the wrestler. However, this occurrred in the days before there was any serious effort to integerate fighting styles. Maybe it would be different now.

We have yet to see a high-end boxer come over to MMA.
There was talk about Tyson comming over for a bit, but it turned out to be a rumor. I think the UFC is doing everything in it's power to gain a positive reputation, and having Tyson as one of their fighters would set them back a few years.
I would LOVE to see Lewis learn some BJJ, and fight in the UFC or Pride. Or Delahoya in the lighter class. Some of these guys have super fast hands, and it would be great to see if they could translate that in an MMA fight.

Yes, even after watching many of Fedor's fights, some, repeatedly, in slow motion, I still don't know how he does some of the stuff he does on the ground. Because he seldom uses his feet, it'd be interesting to see how he would do against a top boxer like Lewis. For sure, he'd lose though if he couldn't get in close.

But I'm not worried about Fedor. All I'd have to do is run 1 MPH faster than him (and hope I don't trip).

Hey Ray,

All is cool.

While I totally respect Chuck Liddell and most UFC fighters, I have to agree with you. Pride fighting has a higher calibre list of fighters, period.

Cro-Cop is simply going to walk over anyone who stands in his way in the UFC. The only fighter that may stand a chance against him is Randy Couture.

Quinton Jackson, while he is an excellent fighter, did not display his ability with his first UFC fight. I think we can expect to see a lot more from him in his upcoming matches.

If Fedor ever came over to the UFC (and I don't think he will), he would probably dominate for years. There is no doubt in my mind that there is no one in the UFC that would stand a chance against him at this point in time.

Financial forum what????

Awesome video: the one Cro-cop - Fedor Emelianenko promo. The only fight I wanted to see more than the Cro-cop vs. Fedor one was Cro-cop vs. Natale.

If Cro-cop thought Fedor was tough, he's seen nothing yet.

Looks like I walked into that one like Mirko walked into Randleman's left hand during their first match.

It was simply an attempted off the cuff, humorous, deadpan remark that I made to Monty, in no way made to be taken literally or seriously. I had no idea anyone on this site would even know who those guys were; otherwise, I would have taken care to be accurate and careful of people's feelings.

I follow Pride a lot and the only fight I watched with Liddell was his match with Quinton Jackson (12-5-0) where he was thoroughly outclassed. Still, he did manage to defeat the very tough Kevin Randleman who outweighs him by 25 pounds. Nonetheless, he was forced to return to the UFC after only 3 fights with a record of 2 wins and 1 loss. I think Liddell's record in the UFC is 23-3-0; I'm not sure.

I hope I don't make you mad (although I probably will) but I don't regard the UFC as being on a par with Pride when it comes to the top fighters. When Cro-cop moved over to the UFC after his recent defeat by Fedor, he had no trouble at all with Sanchez who was 8-0. And the Pride appearances I saw with Shamrock were just plain embarrassing.

Again, I'm sorry I inadvertantly insulted one of your heroes. I know how I would have felt if someone made a remark against my boyhood idol, Bobby Hull when I was young.

Having said all this, I don't feel that Liddell, in spite of his interview remarks, really believes he could compete with Cro-cop or Fedor, especially with the weight disadvantage.

This is supposed to a be a financial forum blog and so I don't want it to turn into one of those WWF type dis-athons.

Peabo: I was referring to the WCW link that monty had posted. Not the other one.

Raymond,

You are very knowledgable about credit, collection agencies and other financial matter. You seem to be a pretty smart guy.
Having said this, calling Chuck Liddell a 'bag of wind' is unfounded. Is there a reason for calling him this?
I am a long time practitioner of MMA, and am a HUGE fan of Chuck Liddell, the UFC, Pride Fighting, K1, and most other fighting organizations.

Vivek,

There is a HUGE difference between wrestling, and MMA.
MMA is quite popular in Canada.
Wrestling is also popular....with children and residents of trailer parks......Along the same lines as Monster Truck shows.
