If you paid this debt last year there is a good chance the collection agency or creditor posted last years date. If that happened then it will remain on your credit file for another six years. Sometimes creditors or collection agencies will only post settle or paid and will not change the dates.

In your Trans union file collection section what is the first date of delinquency or status. If this item is in the accounts section what is the last payment date.

Yes, I do have the release letter. so basically all I need to do is provide this to Trans Union and inform them that the original date was Nov 2004 not Apr 2009? I'm not 100% certain but because I don't have the letter on me now but i don't believe the original date is on it....does that matter?

Thanks,

Do you have the release letter from when you paid or settled your debt? If you do that’s all you need to show Trans union to correct your matter.

Help! Delinquent Date on Trans Union Incorrect - How do I fix?

Postby johnsmith1 » Mon Dec 20, 2010 08:11:20 AM

Hello,

I had a cell phone acct with Rogers that went to collections in Nov 2004. I decided to settle and pay it last year April 2009. The company it was with was Global Collection agency (Natale Law Offices).

I've been patiently waiting for Nov 2010 (6 years) for this item to come off my credit report which it has for Equifax, however when I called Trans Union they informed me that the delinquent date is April 2009 and even though it has been settled and closed it will not come off my credit report until 2015! (another 6 years)

Trans Union says to call Rogers so they can correct the date, Rogers says to call Natale Law offices, Natale Law offices say to call Global and Global says to call Trans Union...I'm getting the run around here and not sure what to do! Who do I contact or what do I do to have this date corrected to Nov 2004 on my credit report for Trans Union in order to have it removed?

Your advice is much appreciated.
