Who was the creditor because i am suprised they never sued you to get a judgment against you ? I know one thing; if contact resources bought the debt they are going to use every scare tactic and might even sue you where the amount is so high.

Yes the creditor knew I owned my own home. I do not have much equity in my home. I own it jointly with my partner. My debt is about 50000.

Thanks for the answer, they have bought a debt I may owe, they sent me a letter saying I have one month to dispute the validity of the Debt or there office will assume the debt is valid. They also say that if I notify them in writing within 30 days the office will obtain verification of the debt. I have no way of paying this debt. What should I do ? If I don't contact them within 30 days can does that mean that I can not dispute the debt?
