Now that I think about it mortgage companies rarely listed their judgments on people's credit files.

NEVER hit my credit record. that is what is so confusing. credit record still shows married name as not officially divorced (it's on my list of things to do) it's quite odd. I am not that difficult to find.

Yes. I bet the judgment did get renewed especially if it was from a mortgage company. The judgments are good for twenty years but only stay on your credit for six years which has passed.

I would go down to the court house or where they keep the judgments and find out if the judgment was renewed every so many years.

Judgement from 2001

Postby irishgurl » Tue May 25, 2010 06:16:33 PM

Good evening.
I have a topic that I would like advice on.
last week my ex received a call from a collection agency looking for me in my married name. A name I have not gone by in 10 years.
A letter was delivered to HIS home in my married name stating that becuase he defaulted on the mortgage (which I did not know about and never received notification of) that they were coming after me for uncollected fees from 2001. I contacted them to get back up paperwork and I also contact a lawyer to see if I had any recourse.
Before I spend a lot of money on this I would like some advice
It was filed in court as a judgement in 2001 yet no attempt has been made to find me. I have since gotten a mortgage, car and credit in my name (maiden) which I went back to 10 years ago.
Suggestions...thoughts?
Thank you
