A lot of these "never heard of" Rogers Cable / Home Phone accounts are popping up these days for good reasons: they did not use to appear on the credit bureau (and/or other agencies did not report them), while iQor certainly can and does. Which is why many find Rogers debts they incurred in 2005, 2006, 2007 and have no clear recollection of, having not heard of them ever since.

Also possible is that you had an account with Sprint, and it got merged in when Rogers bought them off.

Good news: iQor agents are at a full liberty to settle for as low as 50% on all such accounts. If offered to pay NOW they will almost always accept... if they don't, they're stupid: call back an hour later and speak with someone else. :)

If you need any details I can receive PMs with file or account numbers (or even names, if it comes to that) to find out more info for you, including balance and best settlement possible.

Just had to comment on your post. Unfortuneatly I dont have an answer for you, but I sure wish I did.

I too have had the same thing happen to me. The more I'ver searched the topic, the more people I've found having the same damn problem.

I was trying to purchase a vehicle and it came back on my credit report that I owed Rogers around 200.00 for Cable. I called Rogers and they tell me that there is no account under my name so they dont know what I am talking about. The town I have lived in for the past 6 years cant even get service from Rogers. It doesnt exist!

I have been told by lenders to just pay the bill to clear it up. I will not pay for a bill that someone pulled out of their butt. Today I received a letter from a collections agency saying that I owe close to 1000.00 for a Bell bill. I have had it with this crap. If there are so many people getting fake bills from collections, can we all not start a class action lawsuit or something?

My advice to you is dont pay a damn thing. If you pay it to the agency do you really think that will stop the next agency from doing the same thing? How can they lie about our debts and get away with it? I think its worse than Idenity Theft. Trying to make a living is hard enough without these idiots pushing us over the edge.

I am seriously going to find out if a class action is possible. I am sick of getting screwed without a kiss. If anyone wants to join me and stand up to these bullies let me know. And if there are any good lawyers in our Nations Capital reading this that want to represent pissed off Canadians that have had enough, please reply.

Should I pay Iqor for an old Rogers debt?

Postby Minutae » Thu Apr 29, 2010 06:02:37 PM

I recently got a credit report, and it has one negative mark on it; an old debt for an unpaid Rogers balance from about seven years ago.
It's not a huge amount, and though I have no specific memory of owing it, I don't question it's validity (my finances at that time were an utter mess).
My question is, should I bother paying the $300 they claim I owe, or should I try to negotiate it to a lesser amount (i.e. subtract interest, etc..) I've heard that collectors are more willing to settle at the end of the month.

Aside from that, the credit report states the last payment was made in 2005 (though I don't remember making a payment). If I understand correctly, the collection account will be purged from my record six years from the date of last activity.
So, if I don't pay it, I have to wait another year for it to clear off my record, but if I do pay it, it stays there until 2016!?
Not much incentive to be responsible, if so.

Is it possible to negotiate an immediate purge if I pay the debt?
