No I know that the suspension is due to the points not the fine. I was just wondering about the fine itself, if it was out of their system. My suspension expired a week ago. As long as I'm paid up I can get my license back any time but the fees on that never end... points, fine, and license reinstatement fee ($250...) Bastards.

Case closed, I suppose. I'll pay it, no other choice.

No....they simply are using a 3rd party to collect on a commission basis. The debt still exists and you probably will not get your license back till it is paid off. The current suspension is because of the points you have racked up not the unpaid fine. That's another story.

Are you saying you got your license back last week or are you talking next Jan,17?

Well my license was already suspended (till Jan 17) because of those points, sooo. But it makes me wonder what it would say if I went into an ICBC office and asked what my current status was - if they released that debt to an outside company, shouldn't it be cleared in their system?

Given the time of this debt it falls under the old 6 yr SOL in BC.
So yes they could sue you if they chose, they still have several yrs to do it.
Will they is any ones guess.
Is there any regulation that states they can suspend your license for unpaid penalty points?

Okay... It's ICBC Driver penalty points, the fee was instated in May of 2012 I believe, and I haven't paid anything on it ever. What else would you like to know?

Debt supposedly owed

Postby topazmae » Thu Jan 23, 2014 09:43:05 AM

I just received a letter from ARO Inc about a delinquent account for the value of 358.89. All the posts I've read say to ignore it, they can do nothing, etc.

Of course it says the usual things about payment in full is required immediately in order to avoid further action and possible costs, as well as that I am to be advised that a credit check has been completed and an inquiry from their company will be reported on my credit bureau. I have terrible credit as it is, so whatever.

What's my best course of action? Not paying out this 400 bucks is definitely at the top of my list.

Please advise! I appreciate your time in advance. Thanks.
