If somebody has lots of money, and all of their financial responsibilities are taken care of... then buy the expensive consumer items... why not?

I am trying to see that a little patience and education will help people save themselves from unnecessary grief...

Canadians have $1.3 trillion in consumer debt and mortgages.. we need to stop this trend... I'm sure that it's causing problems with peoples health, family, jobs etc

Then you have the little old lady that saves all her Canadian tire money, walks into the store and gets her toaster for free. We can all do it, but the question is. Do we want to ? Propaganda is a one sided, influential form of communication known as advertising with a commercial agenda.

So keep those $395 toasters around, Somebody has a fistful of cash burning in his pocket to go buy one right now. No; better yet, put it on his credit card and worry about it next month, and donate that Canadian tire money to a current charity as he walks out the door. He can't even write off his donation, cause he didn't get a receipt.

Parable of the $395 toaster

Postby montyloree » Fri Sep 27, 2013 07:32:11 AM

Two guys walk into Canadian Tire... they are shopping for toasters.
The one guy says to the other: "wow, look at this $395 toaster. It makes bagels, I can hook up a USB to it and control the temperature from my phone. It's got a 7" monitor as well that I can watch movies... Wow... this is so cool, I can brag to all my friends that I've got the most expensive toaster on the block!!"

The second guy asks: "are you actually going to use the USB hookup and the monitor?"

The first guy replies: "probably not, but it is still pretty cool, and my friends will think it's cool"

Guy number two shrugs, picks out the $10 toaster and goes to the check out.

MORAL OF THE STORY: The $10 toaster makes toast just as well as the more expensive ones.
