thank you for your response. I called Rogers tonight, and they couldn't find my account, it got moved to another credit agency - Global Collections. So, I called them, and they settled the account for 72% of the cost. So I was pretty content about that.

thanks again for your help

Hi funnygrrl,

All Collection Agencies have permission to negotiate the balance.

Some even have a set % they are permitted to settle for, regardless of your situation.

End of the month negotiations are good, but don't necessarily guarantee success - the C/A's deal with very large volumes of files, so some will wait you out.

If you would like more information, contact me at info@occa.ca I'd be happy to help.

one more thing, i forgot to mention... i have a credit report from 07.25.08 and there is no mention on that report. Yet the bank is indicating that there is now a collection, reported 02.20.09 from this account...

thank you for your help

IQOR - Rogers... do they negotiate?

Postby funnygrrl » Wed Apr 21, 2010 06:38:01 PM

Hi There,

I recently found out that there is an outstanding amount on an old Rogers account I had. I was in an abusive relationship at the time (2007) and apparently, my ex rung up the charges on our cell phone package. I can understand that, as the accounts were in my name, I am at fault for the outstanding amount. What I was wondering is does IQOR negotiate? I would like to offer them 50% total on the account, but hope for a good succcess rate. I have also heard that attempting to negotiate towards the end of the month helps as they are trying to make quota.
