Yes.. You can lose your rewards points when you miss a payment, when you do not use your credit card and when you do not read the fine print on regarding the the program or if there is a change in the redemption schedule..

There are also cases when credit cards do have expirations on the rewards points you have earned.. You must be aware of that before you get the card so that you can use or redeem the points you have accumulated..

Jonathan,
What do you mean by "protecting your rewards points"?

Is there a way to lose them, aside from using them?

Groupe Aeroplan is going to go a step higher by investing on Club Premier and AeroMexico's Frequent Flyer Program which would invite travel credit cards holders to use their cards more often and gain aero points. the card users would then earn a lot of points for them to use to get flight bookings for their future trips. furthermore, they can take advantage on the other promos where the aero points can be used.

MONTREAL, Apr 26, 2010 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) --
Groupe Aeroplan Inc. (TSX: AER | PowerRating), a leading international loyalty management corporation headquartered in Canada and Aerovias de México, S.A. de C.V. (AeroMexico), the leading domestic airline in Mexico, today announced that they have entered into an agreement pursuant to which Groupe Aeroplan will acquire a minority position in AeroMexico's frequent flyer program, Club Premier. The transaction, which is subject to the completion of due diligence, the negotiation of definitive documentation as well as customary closing conditions, is expected to close in the third quarter of 2010. Groupe Aeroplan will initially invest US$22 million in Club Premier, and will account for the investment under the cost method, with an additional US$12 million to be invested if certain performance milestones are achieved within 18 months of closing. Upon conclusion of the second tranche, Groupe Aeroplan will account for its investment under the equity method.

"As Groupe Aeroplan's first investment in an international frequent flyer program, this transaction represents a significant strategic milestone; it marks the export of our company's very successful Aeroplan Canada business model," said Rupert Duchesne, President and CEO, Groupe Aeroplan. "Mexico is a high growth market and one of the target countries of our global expansion strategy. This investment not only provides us with a stepping stone into the very important Latin American market, but it also reinforces our position as a global leader in loyalty management, allowing us to participate in the transformation of a frequent flyer program into a standalone, broad-based coalition loyalty program. We are looking forward to working with AeroMexico and Club Premier's talented management teams," added Duchesne.

protecting your rewards points is very important. it is equivalent to cash because it can be redeemed with many thing like airline ticket, gift certificates, merchandises and more. choosing a rewards credit card that offers points protection is a great advantage for a credit card holder. i will safeguard your point from any fraud that is common in the business world today.

credit card companies have been acquiring security programs or systems that will assure the card users that their account is safe.

here is a link of some rewards credit cards in Canada. have a look and try to compare each of the credit cards.

Here is an article that talks about rewards point that do have insurance but others do not offer such reward points protection.

It can take thousands of credit card reward points to book one vacation. If something came up and you needed to cancel that trip, do you know if your points come with insurance?

Laura Kraft of Gilbert said she used her Capital One credit card points to book a vacation to Canada.

“Those points are hard earned – a dollar a point. There’s a lot invested in it,” said Laura.

Laura said she wanted assurance that her points would be protected.

hi..

im planning to travel to Bahamas to experience and enjoy their marvelous beaches. i have been working so hard and i thought of giving myself a break to relax and unwind.

im going with some of my friends and i have heard from them that they are using their travel credit card to earn point that they can use when they will go on a trip in the future. im confused to what kind of credit card will i use because a cousin if mind told me beforehand that he had saved a lot of cash after he went for a trip to the Philippines.

which credit card will i gain more savings? a travel credit card where i can earn point to redeem flight tickets for my future trips or a cash back card in which money are returned to my account which in turn be used for other transactions.

i know i would be spending much with this upcoming getaway of mine. i can't imagine the blue waters while doing all the water sports that i can get. i know it has a price to pay.

RE: Rewards Credit Cards Canada - south america trip

Postby traveluv » Sun Jul 11, 2010 06:25:05 AM

should I be worried about getting travel rewards points for my trip to South America? I want to travel to four countries in South America over a six week period. I'm not sure the cost yet but what I am sure about is that it's not all go on my credit card.

As I'm reading on this site and seeing rewards credit cards. And I've talked to friends who collected travel rewards. it's probably a good idea to collect these points to use them on future trips.

The questions I've got are: if I'm spending close to $10,000 is there a better credit card to use for points? Should I be collected travel rewards or cash back? How can I tell the difference?

I'm concerned about exchange rates, insurances, any other benefits that I can get for spending this kind of money for my trip to South America

Any help would be appreciated
I love to travel... which is the best credit card to use?

hi..

That's right. You can utilize other ways to get a ticket and witness how these pro golfers play their games.

How you ever been to a golf tournament? If you don't mind. I am just curious.

I would envy you if you have seen Tiger Woods up close in a golf tournament.
