this is a good question

I gave up my trip to Thailand, it should cost about $6000. That includes airfare, hotel, food, and seen some of the sites. You have got allow a lot of money to see the sights.

if I'm paying the $6000 over 12 months that the cost $500 a month not including interest. So I need to find the best low interest credit card out there.

Also due low interest credit cards come with travel insurances or do I have to get that from CAA.? What about medical insurances? I want to make sure that I fully covered when I get to Thailand. I don't want any surprises

hi Jonathan,

The idea behind low interest credit cards is solely that their low interest. You don't really want to travel rewards card or other types of rewards cards on a low-interest card. The reason for that is because low interest credit cards are strictly for people that carry a balance from month to month. So if you carry a balance you want the lowest interest possible to save money on interest. I call these credit users.

If your convenience user, that means that you just use the credit card each month and then pay it off every month. You don't carry a balance. For these type of people they don't need low interest credit cards, but they do need travel rewards cards or other types of rewards cards.

The convenience user is never worried about paying interest on credit card usually because they have cash reserves in place to pay off their balance

a credit user however is the type that doesn't have savings, or just doesn't pay off the balance every month. Sometimes they use the credit card is a source of income. These are the people that need the lowest interest possible.

With regards to the credit issuers being competitive, that's one way for them to become competitive by offering the lowest rates possible. But keep in mind that really low interest rates go to people with only excellent credit and an excellent credit history.

These are good points, thanks for asking your questions!

hi..

as i have search different websites that offer credit cards, i have found out that interest rates differ from each other.. some are around 11.9% and other do have lesser rates reaching around 5.9%.

however, these credit cards that really have very low interest rates are giving less benefit or not all the credit card features are available for the creditor's usage.. another things is that it usually entails excellent or good credit history to apply for the card..

another reason why these card issuers are giving low interest, its because of the competition of whom company do the best low interest credit cards belong to.. it is their marketing strategy to give offers that attract customers to get their card..

thanks Barbent

I guess I was a next question to ask, "what is the best low interest credit card in Canada?"

I guess we talk about this I've always had loyalties to my current bank. I've dealt with them for years. They've always treated me well, or so I thought. But looking at it they really haven't called me up and said hey you got good credit will offer you a lower interest rate card, for obvious reasons.

I just really haven't dealt with other types of creditors, because I really haven't needed to. And it also seems like a bit more work to deal with different creditors because of more bills to pay. having said that, for the sake of a few hundred dollars it might well be worth the time to deal with other creditor just to get the lowest interest rate possible on a credit card.

It looks like a lot of the major banks lowest interest rates are around 11.9% based on the post below. I wonder why that is what other creditors such as MBNA or capital one have much lower rates?

Searching for a better way

This is an article about how a certain couple in Canada made possible a home renovation with the help of their low interest credit card.

Line of credit reduces reno stress

Flexibility makes option No. 1 choice of homeowners

When Rod and Johanne Black bought their house in Cougar Ridge in southwest Calgary, they knew they would be renovating right away and they factored that cost into their overall financial plan.

"We had the whole basement renovated," said Johanne. "We had a gym in our old house and we knew we wanted one in the new house. They had done some work in the basement, but it was basically a floor hockey room."

The couple consulted with basement renovation specialists at Urban Abode of Calgary and came up with a design that delivered a gymnasium -- plus bathroom, pool table and entertainment centre -- for around $55,000.
