Quick question about transunion and equifax purge dates.
I disputed an item with Transunion as I didn't recognize the account. It was a $300 credit card that was paid off in 2011. However, TU had the wrong amount and account number.
Anyway, I checked my credit report with TU today online, and they didn't remove the account or update the account #, but they changed the Date Reported to June 19, 2013. Lo and behold I update my score and it has dropped 70 points.
According to
http://www.fcac-acfc.gc.ca/eng/resou...ore-3b-eng.asp,
Transunion uses the date of last delinquency to establish when to purge a delinquent account. If that's the case, why did my score drop so much? In the little 2 year grid below the trade line it is showing a CO for June 19, 2013, then nothing back to July 2011, which was when the account was actually paid off. However, this account went delinquent back in 2007.
Did Transunion re-age my account? When I called them they said that it was paid off in July 2011, so what is this CO icon for June 2013, and what date will they actually use to calculate the purge?
I'm not very worried, it's the only negative item on my report and I'm not planning on seeking credit for a few years, but if they've fecked up I want to deal with it, even though dealing with TU and EQ is the most awful experience I've had in recent memory.
Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you.
PS, EQ still shows July 2011 as the DOLA for this account, but they are also showing June 2013 as Date last reported. I guess the bank notified both CRAs after my dispute with TU, even though they still got the account # wrong with TU.
I also do have a release letter from the bank, so if worst comes to worst, sometime in 2017 I can do another dispute if those items aren't purged. Assuming the Zombies don't take over before then.
