RE: Transunion Purge and Correct Directions for Trans Union's office in Ontario...

I can confirm that the Burlington address at 3115 Harvester Road, on the 2nd floor, is in fact the correct one that the general public can visit. I have personally been there three times in the past couple of years. If you go to their former address in Hamilton, you will be redirected to the new Burlington location.

The hours are from 9 am to 4:30 pm, Monday thru Friday, at last check, and has adequate visitor parking in the surface lot near the front entrance.

EDIT: If you are arriving from the west, take the QEW to the Guelph Line exit, head south to the first left which is Harvester Road. The building will be about 400m on your left.

From the east, take the Walker's Line exit off the QEW south to Harvester Road, and the building will be about 1.6 km on the right.

Ok, so the government website says first delinquency after which the account did not go back into good standing. That makes more sense.

As far as Transunion's address, are you sure it's not:

In person

Ontario
Consumer Relations
3115 Harvester Rd., Suite 201
Burlington, ON L7N 3N8

Thanks!

The philipino lady told me it went delinquent in 2010. I don't have any record of that. Whatever report they're looking at doesn't mesh with what I get when I pay to see my report.

I got a hold of Capital One and supposedly they're mailing me my 2007 and 2006 statements, and they say that the first time it went delinquent will be the first time it was 30 days late.

What doesn't make sense to me is that an account would purge 6 years after the FIRST delinquency.

If I have an account and I miss a payment in 2005, then never miss a payment and have that account in good standing, it's not going to disappear from my credit file in 2011, six years after the first delinquency!

And why does everyone say it's six years from date of last activity?

I see the email from the legal department, and I also got confirmation from the philipino lady, but how does purging an account six years after first delinquency prevent accounts that are in good standing, that are still in use, but had a single delinquent item 6 years in the past from disappearing from a credit file?

So I called Transunion, and they did confirm that it gets purged 6 years after date of last delinquency. This account was paid in 2011, but went delinquent in September of 2010, so she said it will purge in 2016.

However, it is showing charge-off as of June 19, 2013 (date of last report) and this has caused my score to tumble by 70 points.

If date of first delinquency is when the purge timer starts, why is the date of last report used for score calculation?

Thanks

Hi HankBlank,
thanks for your response. Not sure what you mean by dubious. I wasn't trying to duck from this item on my credit file, but I have a release letter and wanted TU to reflect the correct account.

Anyway, everywhere I read it says that the account purges six years after the date of last activity, which is why so many advise against making a payment 5.5 years after your last payment because it will reset the SOL and re age the account.

I can't see anywhere on my TU or EQ where it says when the account went delinquent:

Transunion Purge

Postby monstercat » Thu Jun 20, 2013 06:30:08 AM

Quick question about transunion and equifax purge dates.

I disputed an item with Transunion as I didn't recognize the account. It was a $300 credit card that was paid off in 2011. However, TU had the wrong amount and account number.

Anyway, I checked my credit report with TU today online, and they didn't remove the account or update the account #, but they changed the Date Reported to June 19, 2013. Lo and behold I update my score and it has dropped 70 points.

According to http://www.fcac-acfc.gc.ca/eng/resou...ore-3b-eng.asp,

Transunion uses the date of last delinquency to establish when to purge a delinquent account. If that's the case, why did my score drop so much? In the little 2 year grid below the trade line it is showing a CO for June 19, 2013, then nothing back to July 2011, which was when the account was actually paid off. However, this account went delinquent back in 2007.

Did Transunion re-age my account? When I called them they said that it was paid off in July 2011, so what is this CO icon for June 2013, and what date will they actually use to calculate the purge?

I'm not very worried, it's the only negative item on my report and I'm not planning on seeking credit for a few years, but if they've fecked up I want to deal with it, even though dealing with TU and EQ is the most awful experience I've had in recent memory.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you.

PS, EQ still shows July 2011 as the DOLA for this account, but they are also showing June 2013 as Date last reported. I guess the bank notified both CRAs after my dispute with TU, even though they still got the account # wrong with TU.

I also do have a release letter from the bank, so if worst comes to worst, sometime in 2017 I can do another dispute if those items aren't purged. Assuming the Zombies don't take over before then.
