It is $1050.

I cannot see the exact terms in months, though they provide the information in regards to how long in the "tools" section.

Yes, they show how much they have remitted to each company.

The contract was written in such a way that it didn't state the actual number of months, but simply the amount we needed to pay each month. We were in agreement that it was to be for 60 months (then when we made our first payment it explained that 55 months were remaining in the "tools" section of their online site), now I received this demand for the increase arbitrarily, I did the math and explained to her that it was less than 52 months. The contract states $1050, but they are attempting to suggest every excuse in the book, none of them truly making sense based on the facts. It is seemingly vexatious in nature.

The $90 in itself is the principle as we want to move forward and get our lives back in good financial order and save money, whereas they are deciding out of the blue that the pay amount needs to change.

Of the money we give them, $140 per month is going to them, PLUS the $1150 we paid them upfront for the pleasure of doing business with them...

Illegal debt contract changes AFTER signing all negotiated...

Hello all,

I have perused this site from time to time, first time I had to post.

My wife and I recently signed with a Debt Settlement company, we verbally agreed to pay $1000 for 5 years (60 months). We made 2 payments, before being told we need to pay $90 extra a month. This caught us off guard. The original explanation I was given was that this is because the estimated numbers we sent them were lower than the actual, I looked and showed her that the difference was only $9. Furthermore, I have done the math and they are forcing us to pay all of our debt over 52 months rather than the 60 we agreed to.

In their contract it states that they cannot make contractual changes without our consent. I was told that "we are making you aware", you can either agree to pay the new payment or we will contact your creditors and tell them that you are not making the payment and they will cancel the program.

I spoke to Consumer Protection Ontario and they are essentially a toothless agency that cannot enforce anything.

What can we do? We cannot a lawyer, my wife is in tears, she has heart problems already and now they are essentially holding us hostage so that we lose our home and all we have worked for.

Please help, any helpful advise is appreciated.
