If 7-10 yrs later I return to Canada and purchase assets can they come after me?

I've had the credit card debt for 2.5 yrs. I've been a customer for over 10yrs with outstanding payment history.

MBNA Closed my account due to a miscommunication (Meaning my CC stopped working). I said OK that's fine, I'll slow pay the account. I did this which had me 2 months late. I step up monthly automatic withdrawals from my canadian bank account in Jan. 2013. Monthly Payments went out of my account Jan, Feb & Mar.

CCL called yesterday and said MBNA sold my debt to them recently. Shocked, I explained to them the story, they said MBNA shows last recorded payment received in January. I said that's funny b/c the payments went out of my account up to March 29 and another payment is due April 29?

People always want to make a long story short but without the facts of the case it is impossible to give any useful advise. How old is this debt?

When did you last make a payment or acknowledge this debt in writing?

Here's something I need some help on...

Without going into a long story MBNA recently sold my debt to CCL for collection.

CCL contacted me and said I needed to pay $12,000 in full or make 2 payments of $6,000 within a three day time period or they are going to file suit against me. Unfortunately, I do not have the cash or I would pay.

Here's where this gets interesting for myself... My canadian credit score is 800 or better but I do not currently live in Canada.

Should I be worried about my canadian credit score seeing that I don't live there and do not plan on returning for at least 10 yrs?

Can they come after me in the US and/or my US Credit Score (I have separate Social Security Numbers in each country)? I am only worried they could track me down in the US and somehow get approval to garnish my wages and/or take over my personal assets.

Needless to say I'm embarrassed that this has gotten to this point.

Please let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance for your input.
