These situations are one of the reasons I always strongly recommend getting any settlement offer on paper (or at the very least e-mail) before sending any money. Sadly, in any case, they will generally not send the release letter in any way other than through regular mail unless they had promised otherwise beforehand. As I've said lower, your best bet would be to call the Ombudsman, inform them of how the agents have acted towards you, of the offer that was made, supply any proof of payment required, and hopefully she'll be more reasonable.

Good luck!

Iqor Canada Limited is absolutely the worst compay I have ever had the unpleasure of dealing with. After coming to a settlement and paying the agreed upon amount, called to notify them of the payment and give them the confirmation number. The girl I spoke with was rude and demanding. I then emailed the manager who had given me his contact information. Twice. I did not receive a reply. 2 days later (today) I called back to see if they had received my payment. They say that they have not received it. I am purchasing a house and need a release letter ASAP. They are being evasive. I contacted my bank and was advised that if they still have not "received it" by Friday, they will begin an investigation. I am very concerned that they will not forward me the appropriate release. Due to the unprofessional manner in which my file was handled (not to mention the harrassing phone calls), I do not trust that they will keep their end of the deal.

The ON Ombudsman line should be 1-888-804-8198. :)

Do you have a number for the IQOR ombudsman or should I just call 800-281-9643 and ask to speak to the ombudsman?

Call iQor's Ombudsman. Since it is now confirmed that the account was NOT you, request a letter (preferably by fax) from them saying the record sent to YOUR credit report was a mistake, which they have to do even if the file has been recalled by Rogers since iQor was the one to report the account to Equifax/Transunion. They'll probably ask for time to verify with Rogers, in which case I'd say 48rs is reasonable. :)

I called Rogers and got passed around from wireless to cable to accounts receivable to fraud (wireless) and eventually fraud (cable 877-331-3341). Each time I was on hold for 10-15 minutes only to be told it was someone else's department. The CSR in fraud (cable) said he needed a Rogers account number and gave me IQOR's number 800-281-9643. I eventually got someone in IQOR and he was able to give me the Rogers account number related to the posting. It turns out it was someone with the same name and city but he lived on a different street, had a different SIN and birthday. Someone must have seen the name and city and decided to post it in my account. What do they care if they mess up someone else's credit rating? The person at IQOR said the file had been taken back by Rogers and IQOR no longer has anything to do with it. I called Rogers again and they said the file had been archived and they would have to retrieve it before they could do anything. The person gave me his extension and asked me to call him back in a few days. He took my number and said he will call me if he hears anything before then. For the last few years, Rogers has promised to fix this problem but they haven't done it yet so I'm not holding my breath. It's a good thing that everything else in my credit file is spotless and I've never had trouble getting credit. I guess Rogers has become a joke and no-one considers a Rogers collection as meaning anything since their company and their collection agency IQOR make so many mistakes.

Of course, they usually don't really do anything with consumers, they need something from Rogers or iQor to remove the listing.

I tried contacting Equifax but they won't do anything without the consent of IQOR and Rogers.
