Hey,
I recently rec'd my credit report and there is some bad debt issues I had a few years ago. I wanted to assess whether or not I should pay them or leave them a bit longer and have them purged from the account after 6 years. From my understanding, they are to be purged on PEI after 6 years from the last date of activity. However, when I look at these records, I don't see a last date of activity. For example, once looks like this:
Condition: [Derogatory]
Balance: $XXXX High Balance: $XXXX
Type: Revolving account
status:Bad debt/collection/skip
Payment: $0 Monthly (due every month) Limit:
Opened: 03/22/2005
Reported: 12/06/2009
Responsibility: Individual
account
Past Due: $XXXX
Remarks: Bad Debt Write Off
Account Cancelled by Credit Grantor
However, I stopped paying anything on this account around December 2006. It would appear Transunion is reporting something every single month on the account when there has been no actually payment or inquries with this debt. How will I know for sure when my 6 years is up for it to be removed if I choose not to pay if they update it every month? A few of my accounts are like this..and a few do list a previous year as last reported ie: 01-2007
Does last Reported mean last date of activity? Can I call and have them prove to me the last date of activity without extending any "clocks".?
