hi..

as what i have read with other credit cards that offer travel rewards points, the points collected by the card user will not have any expiration date as long as the account is existing.

but your right with your post that some travel rewards cards only allow 3 years and after which, the points will be gone.

as an advice for travel rewards cards holders, better use your points once you've reached a certain number of points in which an equivalent rewards is available. it is too long for a card user to wait for 3 years and use the points accumulated.

Most airlines allow three years grace period after any points was earned using your Travel Rewards card. So as long as you sue your card every three years for valid reward point transactions, your mileage will not expire. Some cards though have the points expire after a year they are earned.

According to this page, Capital one No Hassle Miles Rewards won't expire for the life of the account.

www.capitalone.ca/canada/faqs/rewards_card_offer.php?linkid=WWW_Z_Z_UNS13_CNCPPL_C1_10_T_CNCCFQRO#6_pg_sl

That's assuring..it's nice to know that if you if you have collected no hassle Miles rewards points for years you will lose them if your account is inactive.

Do my travel rewards points ever expire?

Postby CCQuestions » Mon Mar 22, 2010 01:32:58 PM

My question is this:

I have several thousand aeroplan points, air miles, Capital One reward miles. I've been accumulating them for years. Is there a time when these points will ever expire?

This would be terrible because I've spent several thousands of dollars over many years collecting them, and I would hate to lose them.

What are the credit card companies policies about this? Is there any reason whatsoever that a person would lose their travel rewards points?
I am a Canadian-Money-Advisor.ca account, which asks good questions.
