Monty Loree: So http://www.mytravelrewardscentre.ca. Alright I appreciate your help. There’s one more question - so let’s just say I want to book from any type of flight from across province or whatever, how much notice do I have to have?

MBNA Travel Rewards: Well right now you can book a flight if you want to leave tomorrow. You can do that as well. I would say about 24 hours notice.

Monty Loree: Okay, 24 hours notice for flights. Okay it sounds good I appreciate your help. I guess that answer s all the questions that I have regarding the MBNA Travel Rewards: Platinum Plus MasterCard.

MBNA Travel Rewards: I do thank you very much for calling Travel Rewards Centre. My name is Steven. Have yourself a great day.

Monty Loree: Thank you and bye-bye.

Monty Loree: So basically again that’s 25,000 plus the 16,702 would be 82,295 that I’m missing. So then I would times that by $0.02 I got a $165. So let me just do it again.

MBNA Travel Rewards: Minus 16,702…

Monty Loree: So $165, that’s not bad, 2 cents a point. Alright it sounds good. Anything else I should know about using the MBNA Travel Rewards: Platinum Plus MasterCard?

MBNA Travel Rewards: Do you know that if you also do booking on line, you do get bonus points as well. You can get up to 500 bonus points through the online redemption.

Monty Loree: What’s the website for that?

MBNA Travel Rewards: The website for your travel card is mytravelrewardscentre.ca

Monty Loree: Okay. Just one other thing - I’m just asking all bunch of questions here, my apologies. I just want to get the feel and nature of the MBNA Travel Rewards: Platinum Plus MasterCard offers. So let’s just say I wanted to go from British Columbia to New Finland and I believe on my card right now I got 16,702 points. So if I go from British Columbia to New Finland how much extra does that cost me and how do you charge that?

MBNA Travel Rewards: Well the points for that will be 25,000 points. So right now you only have 16,702 points. You take the 25,000 and the difference is approximately 8,300. Of course you will divide that - we are looking at a deposit of $400 to top up the points. I’m sorry it’s $249 to top up the points plus then you would also have to pay the taxes on the flight.

Monty Loree: So based on the $249, what is the rate per mile?

MBNA Travel Rewards: $0.02

Monty Loree: $0.02 per point missing

MBNA Travel Rewards: That’s correct.

Monty Loree: Okay, what are those requirements again?

MBNA Travel Rewards: Well all its requirements, it’s almost based on price but we don’t know the prices, due to – say these flights here, because they give us all the flights for what you’re looking for. Say you want Montreal to Toronto, within adjoining provinces, it’s 15,000 points. Then of course if the flight you’re going is first class, the pricing will probably go out of the tier. So therefore it will be costing you more points than just 15,000. The 15,000 points, that’s economy.

Monty Loree: So this card you can’t rent a car then?

MBNA Travel Rewards: We can rent a car for you but you can’t use your points on it. We can rent it for you. We just charge the administration fee of $25 for all bookings and plus of course the applicable taxes.

Monty Loree: So is that $25 charge applicable to across province or to all flights booked?

MBNA Travel Rewards: We don’t charge the booking fee actually. I was looking at the calculation and it’s $25. We do not charge a booking fee for any flights across the province or Canada for that sake. The only fee that we do charge is if you want to make a change to a booking or if you want to make a cancellation through your booking then you will pay $25 plus the taxes.

Monty Loree: Okay, so what else do I need to know about that, is that pretty straight forward then - 40,000 to Mexico?

MBNA Travel Rewards: That’s correct.

Monty Loree: Are there any other benefits on this card with regards to the points?

MBNA Travel Rewards: In regards to points – which is not really good - you can only book air. You can’t purchase any other merchandise or car rental or anything like that. You can only redeem points for air. It’s all been defined pretty much.

Monty Loree: Is it limited to the airlines that I can go on?

MBNA Travel Rewards: No, it can go on any airline as long as you do meet the requirement.

Monty Loree: So let’s just say I go from, like you say from Quebec to Ontario, does the 15,000 points take care of all of the fees in the airport?

MBNA Travel Rewards: No. It only covers the whole ticket except for the taxes. So you’ll be expected to pay the taxes as well.

Monty Loree: So you’re paying taxes plus airport fees?

MBNA Travel Rewards: What do you mean airport fees? Airport fees are the taxes.

Monty Loree: Okay. I just know there are two or three different taxes on to the end, like surcharges or whatever.

MBNA Travel Rewards: All the surcharges, gas charges are all the taxes in the plane.

Monty Loree: Okay, is that available on all provinces?

MBNA Travel Rewards: No, I don’t believe it’s available in Quebec and there’s also another one as well.

Monty Loree: Okay. I’m just doing some planning here so let’s just say I travel to Canada, US or Mexico. How many points do I need for that?

MBNA Travel Rewards: With the card that you have now?

Monty Loree: The MBNA Travel Rewards: Platinum Plus, how many rewards points do I need to travel to Canada, US, or Mexico?

MBNA Travel Rewards: Well if you go within Canada like from Quebec to Ontario, with adjoining provinces, it’s only 15,000 points. If you’re going anywhere within Canada and the US, it’s 25,000 points. If you want to go to Mexico it’s about 40,000 points plus the taxes.

MBNA Travel Rewards: How can I help you?

Monty Loree: So I understand that with this card, I get I point for every dollar spent.

MBNA Travel Rewards: Alright

Monty Loree: Okay and…

MBNA Travel Rewards: No - let me verify that. Do you have the travel rewards? Yes that’s right, 1 point for every dollar.

Monty Loree: Okay. Is there a better card than that? Is there any card that can give me two points for every dollar spent?

MBNA Travel Rewards: I know there is one card , but it’s was with the [Unintelligible] MasterCard. That’s two points for every one dollar net retail spent, the maximum earning is 400,000 points.
