Thanks I also was curious about this. Is Equifax usually willing to and will change these for people?

Hi OttawaEng

Let me try to clarify the confusion regarding two chargeoff accounts from Scotiabank. You state in your blog that you stopped making payments on those accounts on or about September 2004, however Equifax shows the date of last activity as July 2005. If you truly believe that you made no payments after September 2004 and did not give written acknowledgement of this debt to Scotiabank after this date, you will probably find that July 2005 was the last date that Scotiabank reported your accounts to Equifax. If in fact this is the case, you should definitely file an Equifax Consumer Credit Report Update Form stating that your date of last activity should read September 2004. If Equifax will not make the change, ask for documentation to show that the date of last activity was September 2005. You can download this form from the EQUIFAX web site..

Any dispute that you have with either EQUIFAX or TRANSUNION does NOT restart the Statute of Limitations.

Good Luck and have a GREAT DAY.

disputing date of last activity on the credit report

Postby OttawaEng » Thu Mar 11, 2010 08:01:39 PM

i have two scotiabank charge off credit card accounts on my equifax report .
i stopped making payments on those accounts on about September 2004, however the equifax report shows the date of last activity to be July 2005 .
this i guess will extend the purge date by about 10 months.

can i dispute this with equifax?
is disputing those items are going to restart the statute of limitation period again ?
