I hate to tell you, but yes...100% you are talking to India!! I just recently called giving every lick of my personal identifying information to a rep, only to be told I had to go in person to complete my request.

After having gone through my info several times when it seemed like he was taking notes, I asked him where he was located. He told me that he is in INDIA!!! I confirmed with the Burlington office that Transunion does use this call centre in India, but they don't give them paper or a pencil?!? That is supposed to make me feel better????

NEVER give your info to the call centre. Demand to speak to someone in Canada instead and email privacy@transunion.ca to complain. I am MORTIFIED!!

It isn't India -- you were talking to a call center in Hamilton but because the pay is horrible the only people willing to work there are recent immigrants which is why it sounds like you are talking to India.

The Registrar of each province regulates them but while frustrating and it would be nice to have it fixed because Equifax is the one that actually matters. This hasn't -- as of yet -- caused me any issues but it would be nice if it was fixed.

I am so sorry to hear someone else is as frustrated as I am. I have been going through a similar situation myself. In fact I just got off the phone with India - and I have given up trying.

I apparently have 4 open Car leases 2 that ended in 1999 and 2004 but were reported for some reason in 2006. 1 mortgage reported as 2 when I renewed but sold the property 3 years ago - so the 2 are still showing active and I am responsible for the payments.

I have 3 - 30 day lates from 2005 and one 30 day late for $75.00 for my cell phone in 2009 when I got sick. No 60's, 90s, claims, collections NOTHING- everything else is R1 and perfect.

My credit score dropped over 100 points in less than a year - and there is information that wasn't on my report last year - suddenly showing up now.

There were 2 computer lease enquires from 2003,04,05 and was told I was an 'active' credit seeker. Which I am not - I haven't asked for anything until this past fall.

We have just expanded our business and needed some captial - which we got thanks to the bank who ignored the bureau and went by my real history - but what a performance dealing with TU and Equifax.

Is there nothing we can do? Who regulates them? I've gotten no where. BC Privacy Commish only cares about fraud, Ombudsman for the Bank doesn't get it and thinks the BBB is the answer and none of the phone clerks at Equifax and TU have supervisors. There is no head office, no management nothing that I have found anywhere.

Anyone have any ideas in their 'spare' time?!

TransUnion is Incompetent.

Not really a problem I expect anyone to be able to offer me any assistance with but it is just more to vent. I can't believe these people are responsible for credit reporting. It is a good thing that Equifax is the main agency.

My Equifax report is fine. I have perfectly clean credit. I have three credit facilities and three credit facilities report. When it comes to my TransUnion at some point I ended up with two credit files. I have been trying to explain that to them but their staff has trouble understanding what I think is a pretty simply and likely common situation.

Credit file one is blank. It shows all my hard pulls but no actual credit. The file is also only three years old. I don't use credit much but I have had credit since the 90s.

My other file has all my actual credit plus a bunch of credit that doesn't belong to me. Nothing damaging since they are all Paid as Agreed but most of it isn't mine. It also has the correct birthday but wrong year making me five years old than I am. It also has a previous address that is not mine.

On top of that it also has some old credit that belongs to me but which I have not used in 12-18 years. Again none of it is bad except that it all shows as too early to rate even though it is over 15 years old. For example I have a Eatons card with a $500 limit that I owe $0 on that is too early to rate. I got the card in 1991 and Eatons went out of business years ago. When I tried to explain that it is odd that an Eatons card would have a too early to rate rating the CSR at TransUnion just kept telling me I have to contact Eatons.

I would love to know what my TransUnion score is but despite paying for it a half dozen times I still don't know since my blank report is the one that appears. Since it is blank I have no credit on file and the computer won't verify my identity. Trying to call support ends with them telling me that I have no credit on file and then refunding my payment to my credit card.

In two years I have tried to have this fixed every few months and then I just give up. As much as I don't like Equifax at least they are not incompetent -- they may be in collection agencies pocket -- but at least they have a grasp of what is going on.
