Mutual funds aren't the best way to invest money. The returns are very poor.

lol Millie..

Well I guess they were supposed to be an easy way to invest.
I have mutual funds that I bought in 1994ish, and they're probably the same value as they were then... I don't cash them in because they would charge me a hefty penalty and taxes etc.

I'm not much for mutual funds either, based on my personal experience.

Does your bank charge you mutual fund fees?

This question was posed on the canadian money forum by rinoscar.

Hello,
I Would like to learn if any other major canadian banks besides BMO charges an admin fee for keeping mutual funds via the bank. My Bank is Bank of Montreal and every six months I am charged $5 + Taxes for this administration fee. It would be understandable if I purchased a third party fund, but all the funds belong to Bank of Montreal. I don't understand
Is it only BMO or do all the Canadian Banks expect this no ridiculous fee?

Thanks
