I can tell you that Presidents Choice Financial, BMO, CIBC, Sears Canada, and Staples (Citi Financial) , Bell Canada all have used Equifax.

Royal Bank, Kent Building Supplies, & Rogers all use Transunion

Although some of these may use both...but thats my experiences

I know that CIBC and American Express both use Equifax as I can see they requested my Equifax report.

That does not mean they don't check both though so I would get the TransUnion corrected before applying.

I find Transunion is impossible to deal with. I can't buy my report online because of something that doesn't match up. I think it is my DOB. They do send me the free paper version but while it has all my credit inquiries it has none of my actual credit history -- just inquires.

Thanks so much for the prompt response. I've been trying to clear up incorrect information on my TransUnion File and they seem to take forever. They have great payment history from 9 years ago on my file, but some recent information is incorrect and they've been dragging their feet. Equifax complied to my request had removed the info...but TransUnion seems to operate under a different system. I would like to see them both at a decent level before applying for a credit card as I'm not sure who CIBC or American Express uses. Thanks again for the info.

Royal bank uses TransUnion for mortgage loan apps etc, not sure about their unsecured products IE VISA..

Almost everyone uses Equifax

Does anyone know which Institutions use Equifax and which use Trans Union? I believe BMO uses Trans Union. But wanted to get an overall sense before applying for a credit card.
