i've recently had an encounter with a collection agency regarding false information (i.e. payement). however, when i received a letter from this agency they used the scare tactic on me and made me do a second payment. With much investigation, i have proof from my bank statment and confirmation from rogers stating i don't owe them any money. As a result i made a stop payment. When i called the agency to let them know i have proof they did not want to listen nor take the copy (i.e. by fax). The agent that i spoke with yelled at me, threaten to ruin my credit report and hung up on me.
I then called the bureau of consumer services to which they have advised me to write a letter to the president of the agency. I have written a letter and it has been sent (just last week). NOW, i just checked my credit report and the name of the agency is on there!!!!! HELP!!! ANY SUGGESTIONS? so far i'm thinking of calling the bureau and equifax to investigate and file a complaint.
