I would ignore Global Collections .There are the sneakiest and most dishonest collection agency I have ever dealt with and do not give them a dime.

THANK YOU!!! yes, that's right i don't owe anyone any money. In '05 i've dealt with CBV c/a agency (to which have already paid off) now GLOBAL (a differerent c/a) is asking me for the same dollar amount! They are trying to ruin my credit report. I have contacted rogers (approx 1 wk ago) and have asked them to send me my account statement stating it is closed and no outstanding balance. They told me it will take 7 to 10 business days until i get the letter. so far i'm still waiting.

As for the money i paid second time to Global. i put a stop payment and got my money back. (that's when the agent yelled at me, threatened me and hung up on me) they did not want to accept a proof of document!

i did call equifax today and they told me to fill in an investigation form with bank statment (proof) that it was paid back in '05. I've also called the consumer services bureau and have filed a complaint. So far they have asked me to send in all letters and proof of documents supporting my fight.

I don't know if I understand you fully here. From what I understand from your story is you do not know owe anyone any money but you paid the C/A twice? Am I right?

If you have a document stating that you don't owe Rogers money, what you can do is to directly deal with Equifax and TransUnion. Send them the document and they should remove the item from your credit report. You can also claim back the money that you paid before from the C/A, if they don't, sue them. Hope this helps.

update --- HELP!

Postby orchids_02 » Wed Dec 23, 2009 10:19:27 PM

i've recently had an encounter with a collection agency regarding false information (i.e. payement). however, when i received a letter from this agency they used the scare tactic on me and made me do a second payment. With much investigation, i have proof from my bank statment and confirmation from rogers stating i don't owe them any money. As a result i made a stop payment. When i called the agency to let them know i have proof they did not want to listen nor take the copy (i.e. by fax). The agent that i spoke with yelled at me, threaten to ruin my credit report and hung up on me.

I then called the bureau of consumer services to which they have advised me to write a letter to the president of the agency. I have written a letter and it has been sent (just last week). NOW, i just checked my credit report and the name of the agency is on there!!!!! HELP!!! ANY SUGGESTIONS? so far i'm thinking of calling the bureau and equifax to investigate and file a complaint.
