The majority of canadian tire debts are bought up by contact resources services.

If Canadian Tire wanted to sue you they would have done it by now. The very fact that they have given the account to a collection agency is a sign they have given up on the debt and are happy to take in what they can get. Give them nothing and tell the collection agency you have two words to say to them the second of which is "off"

It's a high enough amount if canadian tire wanted to sue you but the chances are 50/50.

The amount was put into the hands of a consumer proposal then I lost my job and couldn't work, then the proposal was recinded and now they have released it in the courts. When that happened MJR started and now ARC are harrassing me. I have told them I can't pay. The amount is around 7K .

If the amount of money that is owed to Canadian tire is a lot Canadian tire can take you to court and get a judgment awarded to them. What is the balance owing to Canadian tire? I am surprised they haven’t sold your debt to a company called contact resources services.

Well MJR finally gave up calling me on behalf of Canadian Tire. Boy Canadian Tire don't give up. Now they have another collection agency called A.R.C. out of B.C. Account Recovery Company.
I looked these people up on the net and they too are scams. Now I'm going thru harrassing calls from these guys. Told them the same thing. I am on a disability pension haven't worked in 2 years and you won't get blood from a stone.

I am paying canadian tire a large sum of money every month ($375.00--$400.00). When I wasn't working I couldn't pay anything. MJR is saying they are going to put a lien on my house or sue me. Can they do this when I am paying?

Well I am still being bothered by this agency. I refuse to answer my phone during the day. I have sent them a letter explaining I am on a fixed income and cannot pay anything to them. Lately their phone calls are saying that they have an excellent offer for me for a limited time only to set up a re-payment plan. My trustee said they have to give me proof of the company I owe the debt to and they can't because they bought the debt from Canadian tire Acceptance. He advised to keep ignoring them that eventlually they will go away. Today I received a letter from them that was photocopied and was half the size of an original letter lay out saying I should accept the issues I agreed to when I took out the loan, and that I am making a bad credit rating for myself. Well I did that when I went into a consumer Proposal.
I will play the waiting game.

The easiest thing to do is just screen your calls. Just don't pick up unknown numbers or private numbers.

If you really need to answer all calls get call privacy added to your landline.

If you continue to interact with them and you feel that they are being excessively rude just go buy a phone recorder at The Source or some store like that. They are about $30 and they plug in between the phone and phone handset (so obviously no wireless phones) and allows you to record everything so you can then make a complaint.
