Payday loans are of great help with our financial needs. It won’t finance a car, home or college education – it’s typically a loan of just a few hundred dollars. Payday loans are just enough cash to keep your budget afloat between paydays, sans excessive waiting, hassle or negative consequences. If you have a payday loan, you may not need to apply for money from more time-consuming sources, take advances from a credit card, overdraft your bank account and/or incur penalties by paying bills late.

RE: Cash Store - to use Western Union

Too bad I missed this post. Sending money to the Philippines is quite easy and exchange rates can be competitive.

There should be available "remittance stores" in your area as there are lots of Filipinos living in Saskatchewan who regularly send money to the Philippines. I also do this every month and have not have any issues yet (knock on wood) with the remittance. I do send the funds and it is credited to a bank account. There is no charge for using debit card, you can use credit card with a $2 SC and cost to remit varies from $10 - 12.

If you prefer to do this online, you can also use xoom.com/Philippines Finally, at a lower conversion rate, however, much more reliable way are the "banks" - ScotiaBank, RBC do offer international remittances, if you know your friend's bank account in the Philippines.

Maybe next time?

Hope the above information helps.

OMG... I had to go into the Cash Store today to send a Western Union to a person in the Philippines. Anybody who knows me knows that I really dislike payday loan stores, and that's what the Cash Store is.

let me tell you about my experience. First off, being in that store gave me the creeps. Next the lady came in and she had to pay off one of her bills. She was furious, and I guess she underpaid by six dollars. So the clerk said are you coming back on the 30th to pay the full amount? She was furious, and stormed out of the store. She came back in about two minutes and handed the clerk a $20 bill, and said keep the change!!

There is also another fellow in there that want to do a payday loan. he didn't look like the brightest fellow of the world. so it's my impression that the Cash Store feeds off of people that are in trouble.

I filled out my Western Union papers. I was sending $50 to the Philippines. The Western Union charged to send $50 to the Philippines is $14, and I had to spend another $1.50 to use the debit machine. Other companies don't charge me anything to use their debit machine. But the Cash Store charged $1.50. I couldn't believe it

I tried to use my MasterCard to pay for the Western Union, but the clerk said we can't take credit here. And I asked why not. He said because we give out credit we can have people using their credit cards to pay off their debts. I guess that makes sense, but it didn't make sense in my case.

It is my great wish that nobody ever has to use the money store for anything serious. I really don't like that place. I'm glad they have Western Union because it help me out today, but that's about it.

I will try to look for another Western Union resource other than the Cash Store.

did you read the contract that you signed with the Cash Store?
If you don't have a copy of it it would be best to get one..

Look specifically for where you authorized them to take money out of your account... BTW.. you must have given them your account number some how.

Cash Store

Postby XaXiS1978 » Sun Nov 01, 2009 07:13:18 AM

Here is the situation.
I needed money desperately. As a last resort I went to the Cash Store. They had a flyer in the mail that said I qualified for $400 or so. Anyhow, I took out that loan, paid it back. Needed their services again, When it came time to pay it back, I had found out that my EI had run out and I never got paid when I thought I would be. They do not have a cheque, yet they tried to get money out of my bank account 2 days ago even though this loan was due Mid September. I don't know how they possibly could have tried to gain access to my account without me giving them the authority to do so. I am sure I didn't. They only had one cheqye from me which was the one I used to pay the first loan off.

I was able to put a stop payment on the account so that they will not be able to take anything out. There was not enough in the account to even coverwhat they thought they could take out a nyway. I'm glad there wasn't because I would have been screwed for paying my rent for November. Of course after trying to tell them the situation, they still don't get it and don't understand that I do not have an income right now. I have been looking everywhere for work but so far no luck. Are they actually allowed to access my bank account without my approval??
