Hey ShopMyMortgage,

Thanks for your input.

Sadly it looks like I'm going to have to take the long and drawn out path here and hope it gets somewhere, I've been busy copying my documentation this morning.

I tried to call and speak with Metropolitan and Telus about this matter again, and Metropolitan still would have no part of it, and advised me that "it's in our terms to report on your credit file, if something is sent to collections, regardless of whether it should be or not, it gets reported".

I explained to them, how unlike them, Collectcents actually listened to me, and settled for the amount I owed Telus (I probably paid more, because I didn't care about disputing the bills this time around, I just wanted it to go away) which was 298.41 on the last bill I got before they canceled my services.

I advised them of how Collectcents never reported to my credit file because they saw the error in all of this and we're very helpful in rectifying this with them.

They pretty much told me, that Collectcents would not do this, that they would report (even though they didn't) and pretty much gave me the "your silly out of luck" deal again.

So it's starting to look like the only option I'm going to have is to file a dispute with Equifax and Transunion about this and send them as much documentation as I can in regards to this. I just I hope that they will see the error that was made.

I know Metropolitan will probably try and fight the dispute, but I don't think I have any options left.

It was back in april.

I had contacted Metropolitan and tried to deal with them, and explained the situation and they would have no part of it. They advised me if I didn't settle, they would eventually send me to a different company, which appears to be exactly what happened.

The amount Metropolitan wanted was $886 (and that's the amount showing on the soft hit on my credit report from the mortgage application) and the amount that Credit Bureau of Canada Collections wanted was $902.

When I dealt with this second agency (got some help from here) they froze the account and listened to my concerns, and contacted telus on my behalf to settle for 298.41. They advised me they would not report on my credit report due to the issues that arouse during this whole thing, and that it should not have left Telus' hands in the first place.

I'm a little worried about contacting Metropolitan because when I tried to explain the situation to them in the past, they would have no part of it. I lucked out with the other agency, and they listened and got in touch with telus to gather some facts.

Define awhile back? I would forward all the information that the other agency sent you proving that the debt was paid, to the credit bureau and see what they say if the account numbers are the same and the information you have is for the same amount then you should not have a problem. I would also contact the other agency and see if they will send you a copy of a letter saying that they got the original account from the other agency and that they settled it and it was paid in full. That should take care of it.

Denied Mortgage, Major Question, Need Help

Postby Graywulf » Thu Oct 08, 2009 06:01:49 PM

A while back telus sent my account off to Metropolitan Credit Adjusters, they tried to collect from me, and wouldn't hear any part of my story. Eventually they fired me off to Collectcents/Credit Bureau of Canada Collections because they we unable to collect from me.

I dealt with this new agency and they heard my story and they settled with me and didn't report on my file, as it should have never gotten to that point in the first place (telus was screwing me around and I had filed with the BBB in regards to it).

So when I got denied today I asked what it was, and it was from Metropolitan, and mistakenly I thought it was from Collectcent/Credit Bureau of Canada Collections. After looking through my paper work regarding this, I noticed my error.

My question now is... should this even be on my report from them, when they sold the account to a different agency? And the different agency saw the error that it should never have been reported? How would I dispute this, since it should never have been reported in the first place?

I'm a little confused, but my current understanding is that it shouldn't still be on my report from metropolitan, I could be wrong.

But, any input on this would be extreamly helpful as I'm quite concerned.
