Correction

If the creditor gives or sells your file to a collection agency, they then have the right to call and your file is NOT PURGE! So therefore either file for bankruptcy or offer a settlement to the collection agency.:)

The statute is three years and it will purge six years from the date of last activity or last payment.

Is the statue of limitations for Quebec 3 years?

If I have a credit card which I haven't made a payment on in 5 years, should that be purged from my credit file or is it only purged after the 6 years?

Thanks

I believe they can still call hoping that you are not aware of the statute and try to convince you to pay. If I were you, I would just ignore their calls. I would see if you have a local office in your area and if you don’t, you can get it done by mail for free. If you want to pay, you can get your credit reports online from their site or you can get the forms to send them by fax or mail. If you do it by mail or fax you will need to photocopy two pieces of id with your current address on it on one of them.

no I have not checked my credit to see....so even if there might be still a balance owing from way back 10 15 years ago(visa credit card) Contact Resource Services Inc should not be calling at this time which they have in the past few weeks ?....do you have a link to where I can check for my credit report..

I would just ignore their calls, there is nothing they can do to you legally and this item should not be reporting in your credit file anymore. Have you done a credit check on yourself recently with Equifax and Tran’s union to make sure this item is not showing?
