I believe on your credit report there should be a part on there to say whether the credit is approved or not because if it should reflect negitively only if your declined credit.

You can’t remove the inquiry. It drops off after time. You should be aware that several (3 or more per yr) will start to lower your credit score.

Inquiries happen for a number of reasons, and in each case they have your authorization to do so. Here are the most common:

When you apply for credit cards
When you apply for car loans
When you apply for a mortgage
When you apply for "don't pay a cent" event deals
Ask to have your credit limit increased
Become delinquent on debt and collection agencies get involved
When you apply to rent an apartment

There’s a lot more, but either way, you sign a waiver whenever someone hits your credit report.

How can someone remove those hard inquiries to one's credit file report? I have some of those and I don't deal with them nor sure why they will inquire with my record.

Soft Inquiry vs Hard Inquiry

Postby montyloree » Wed Oct 07, 2009 04:12:38 AM

from my understanding..only companies with whom you have existing credit facilities can do a soft credit inquiry.

Asking a car dealership, IMO will give you a hard inquiry as it's not an existing agreement.

IE... a credit card company will do a soft inquiry on their clients to see what their existing credit score/health is like. This enables them to make a decision when to keep interest rates and payment levels the same.

I agree though, that a auto loan place can give you your credit score for free, even though it's a hard inquiry.

BTW... a hard inquiry docks a small amount from your credit score... and a soft inquiry doesn't take any points off at all.

So what is to stop collection agencies or anyone else for that matter from abusing this? And if they do is there any remedy?

The soft inquiry does not affect your credit score and the hard ones do. The best thing to do is find a banker or a cars salesman that you know and get them to do a credit check on you. If you get someone that doesn’t want you see your credit report or credit score, it’s because they want to charge you a higher interest rate.

Whats is the difference between the soft inquiry and a hard one?

Also why when you go to banks or other lenders they always say they can't show you your own credit report? Do they get to see information that we cannot?

I believe if you purchase your credit report and credit score online, you can get them both at reasonable price. If you go the mail or fax method, the only thing you can get for free is your credit report. If you know a banker or a cars salesman, have them do a soft inquiry on you and you can get your score for free.

Yes, you can get it with the FICO score.
Yes, you need to pay for it.

Neither Equifax nor T/U are mandated to provide the FICO to you, the consumer for free.

Can we get the credit report with the FICO score? It seems you really need to pay to get the score. Please advise.
