Thanks for all your help.

As it happens, Sal Bruno at CRS called me between these posts and action is being taken of one sort or another to try to get this cleared up. This is a good thing.

It seems that my constant messages and calling is bringing a reasonable level of action which I am grateful for. Sears apparently shouldn't have it listed at all as they were paid out by CRS. Sal's mgr. is going to call Sears to try and straighten that part out and Sal is emailing me another release letter with the corrected account number on it.

...one step at a time I guess...

Again,. Thanks average_joe.

I would re-do the Equifax and Trans union forms and send the stamped/date receipt along with it. I’m sure they will see that the letter and the receipt match. I would also get a hold of sears collection department and ask for a manager or get their fax number so you can also send them the information. Here is a telephone number of a supervisor or manger at contact resources services that might be able to help you out listed below.

Cash through Scotia Bank for which I have the Stamped/dated reciept.

They gave me the account number to deposit it to and a time limit of that day only to do it in-order to get the discount. I had been saving forever to get the $ to pay them out so I jumped at it.

thanks for the response.

I've done that three times now and faxed through to each of the bureaus. They have each reported back that the claim was invetigated and the debt was confirmed as still owing.

I contacted CRS and they were taking care of it back in June, then July and again here in early Aug. Equifax still doesn't even know that the sears debt was sold to CRS and keep calling sears to confirm the payment. Sears doesn't know it's paid because the account was sold to CRS and reports that the entire amount is R9.

It's like a merry-go-round of inefficiency and lack of communication.

To add insult to injury, The final settlement letter has the paid sears acc# incorrect on it. (missing a digit) so now I'm trying to get a second letter sent. Lol. unreal.

If you have the release letter stating that the account is settled; I would fill out the Equifax and Trans union dispute forms and fax them along with your release letter and two pieces of id.

Credit Bureaus Not Updating - Giving Erroneous Info.

Contact Resource Services seems pretty popular here./ or not.

Incompetence Runs Rampant:
As of Mar 12th /09, I paid off my last outstanding debt (which was chase/Sears card debt - sold to CRS).

Made arrangements to pay them 70% of the total value and got both the pre and post settlement letters. It Still is listed as unpaid at Trans Union and Equifax as it turns out doesn't even know the account was sold to CRS. They've been calling Sears which states that the entire balance is still owing.

WOW! Inefficient and irresposible reporting practices or what?

Anyone else had this type of experience and if-so, how did you overcome it and get things straightened out?

Thanks to all opinions and advice.
James.
