Actually, collection agents hate informed debtors.

You might say, they hate debtors that "pursue information" and actually know their rights.

me123... you should be congratulated for your prudence so far..
When I was your age, I was much the same.. I worried if I owed $5 on my credit card.

I've run into credit problems over the years... business deals gone bad, and other problems that are not in my control... These all eventually worked out, but it must be said that I've always been very prudent with my money.

My point is... even though you're doing well now... later on, you're going to want to buy a house, a car, for the family.. etc.. you may have a solid job for 10 years and then get laid off. You may have a job for 20 years and then get sick. These things may happen, and are out of your control..

It may happen that you run into problems in 5 - 10 - 20 years and if you do, please remember this discussion thread. You're pretty young right now, and have had the time to experience the family life and all the things that go along with reaching the age of 35 - 55 etc

Thanks for your good thoughts...

ME123456,

I don't have a miserable situation; I am debt free and I am trying to help people settle their debts on here when they have lost their jobs or can not work because of their health. I guess you must think that people that own debt settlement and bankruptcy companies are dark and sinister also. Like I said in my last post, prostitution (pimping) and bill collecting are a sleazy way to make a living. I have more respect for people that worked at Wal-Mart, Burger king, Mac Donald’s etc to put themselves through university.

"Maybe they didn't teach you the difference between 'your' and 'you're' in university?"

bullring weather its right or wrong, I don't care. You obviously didn't go through university because they don't care much about small grammatical errors that MS Word can fix (not even for an English major), they care about the content which probably just went over your head. So if you have a problem with the education system, then maybe you should create/join another forum board to bash it so that you can have peace of mind.

montyloree just as an FYI I didn't say I was moralistic. I am far from moralistic. I went through full time schooling to attain an honors degree and a diploma from 2 very accredited institutions simultaneously within 4 years while working full time and paid all of my expenses including living and commuting. I don't come from a financially stable family, but if I'm able to do it why is no one else able, and I'm only 23. Its called laziness and that's why I have no sympathy for most of these people!

This is how to stay out of debt, don't get involved in credit if your not responsible. You will notice more and more employers these days are looking at your credit to determine how responsible you are towards your obligations. If you really need to build up your credit then sure get a credit card but don't use it unless you have money in the bank to pay it off the same day. Can't afford to repair your car? Take public transportation, car pool, sometimes a cab is cheaper than the repair! Can't afford to put food in your fridge, sell it! Go live in a shelter. Life is not Burger King, thus you cant always have it your way!

average_joe I obviously have self respect if I'm not in a miserable situation like yourself. I respect myself and want the best for myself, thus I pursue knowledge and education which is power. You're looking for the easy way out which will never benefit you in the long run.

Y'know the university you went to while you were working for a collection agency, that same collection agency you no longer work for?

I love this discussion... over and over again.... collection agents who are moralistic and think that everybody can pay their bills.

It's unreasonable to think that every person who is over their head in debt is going to be able to make payments. I'm not saying that these people were being smart by taking on too much debt..

Bottom line... the next generation should be a lot smarter with credit card debt, and debt in general.. Our generation is going to learn lessons the hard way and hopefully pass them on to our children.

me123456, I'm glad that you're able to put each individual into a blanket statement. I'm glad that you're able to summarize people's finances by telling them to get a job... that works for everybody I'm sure.

Me123456,

The advice you’re giving is to help your industry and not the members on here. The reason I asked you the questions, is I wanted to find out how truthful you are. The response you gave me is coming from someone that is dark and sinister and thinks they can come on here and fool people. I wonder how you sleep at night knowing you are making a living off people's financial and medical hardships. Did you know the collection agency profession is the second oldest profession next to prostitution and they reason for that is; people that work in these industries do not have any self respect for themselves or others? I agree with bullring when he stated you are still a bill collector and you should keep on trucking.

Over 90% of the people in debt are not going through a medical crises and the ones who were, were assisted with a an unnamed team we had set up for them.

Average_joe, the difference between me and you is that I'm logical, you're emotional and hence you didn't like my response. I'm agnostic so I had no problem collecting and performed exceptionally because I never brought in the element of charity to something that has no room for it. I find your responses very insolent instead you should be thanking me, I'm doing what a lot of other people wouldn't do which is to be completely honest and pure. Instead of telling you this or that or how to get around your debt (which would be a dark and sinister way to keep people encouraged), I'm giving you advice which will benefit you for the rest of your life, you wont get that for free anywhere.
