I have a feeling your credit file will be spotless after all these years. I would not be worried about the bankruptcy for the simple fact the statue of limitation have run out and no one can sue you now. If you need additional help, don't hesitate to ask me.

well that is good news. I am going to order my credit report. This has never been an issue for me as I am a stay at home mom with 4 kids and my husband takes care of the money and credit stuff. But the thought that it could always come back and cause problems now freaks me out. I will check my credit report and thank you for taking the time to answer me.

It won't stay there till you die is the good thing. All the creditors you owed should be off there by now. Whether you paid these creditors off or not, by law they have to come off your credit file six years from the last date of last activity. I would do a Trans union and Equifax credit check and I can almost guarantee the trustee will be in there. I believe if you do a credit check you might not find anything on there.

Yes I understand that but I have no information on who the trustee is? I lost that info in a fire. Two things. Will the discharge ever leave my credit rating? It's been 12 years.. will it be there till the day I die? Also how would I go about finding the original trustee? Can I use a new trustee?

It sounds like you never paid the trustee the rest of their money. I believe once you pay up, the discharge should take effect.

I filed for bankruptcy 12 years ago.. do to stupid mistakes and being well stupid I never followed through with the requirements and therefore have never been formally discharged. We had a fire a few years ago and I do not have even the name of the original trustee. I was wondering if the un-discharged bankruptcy ever leave your credit rating?
