If you pay or settle your debt; what they will do is update your credit file and the date of last activity will be changed to today’s date for example, and this item will remain on your credit file for another six years. I found some creditors changed the date and some didin't.If I were you when paying off or settling this debt; I would get them to agree in writing that they will not change your date of last activity. If they say that can’t, then tell them you’re not interested in paying off or settling your debt. I bet you will get a call the next day saying they will do it. I would not hand over any money on any condition till you get what you want in writing.

If you’re in Quebec the statue of limitation would be three years.

CBCL Still After a 2005 Bill...

Postby hotwire » Tue Feb 24, 2009 02:56:11 PM

hello, Im a military man, and well.. Needless to say my dedication to my country cost me a marriage. And from that my ex amassed a $6000 bill with rogers.

This bill dates back from summer 2005. Iv been fighting it, but its gone from one collection agency to the next. And now its with CBCL.

Im tired of chasing this around, and never getting answers, and always getting demands from the houds. What is the statute of limitations in my situation? and how should I procede.

The account is labeled as : collection/charge off.
