You're going to bear with me as I familiarize myself with this site, aren't you? lol..

I just think it's important for visitors to at least be acknowleged, when possible. When creditors are after you, or other financial nightmares are on your doorstep, it's a blessing to be heard.. and seen, as a person.

Are you ready to delete me yet, Monty? lol...

lol..
I've also started a faq on the site here for bankruptcy
/faqmaster/faq.php?category_id=11&cat_name=Bankruptcy%20for%20Canadians

For student loans , we don't specialize in those here. The laws regarding student loans, their contracts and guarantees are beyond my experience.

Good day, and welcome to the CMA board

I'm not qualified to answer those questions, but perhaps this link might assist you in some way?

on the verge of bankruptcy

Postby bumbo1983 » Tue Feb 03, 2009 10:01:00 AM

Hello,
Approx 4 mos ago i did two balance transfers from a credit card to a student line of credit (i did this b/c my co-signer couldnt get financed for a car w the debt). The 2 transfers total just over 9k. once he got his car, i was going to transfer the debt back to the credit line, but he went into the bank, paid the remaing 200dollar balance, said he didnt want to be co-signer anymore. The bank froze acct, and said i needed a new co-signer to use the credit line. i couldnt find one, so acct got closed.

My monthly payments are now too much on my cc. i have about 23k unsecured debt. my income is social assistance bc i am a single mother of twins.

If i file for bankruptcy will those transfers be preferential payments? What if 160days has passed? Could my ex-friend get into trouble? or be responsible for those balance transfers? How often do creditors object? is my case likely to lead to objections or further headache?
thank you
