My favorite day of the Winter - Winter Solstice

Postby montyloree » Sun Dec 21, 2008 07:00:02 AM

It's here, it's finally here... the shortest day of the year.
This means that every day here after gets longer and longer.

That brings joy to my soul. Especially while it's -30c here and the days are 8 hours long ! It means we're stuck inside in darkness.

The Winter Solstice is a good day in Regina, Saskatchean

I'm glad that you enjoyed my highly finessed presentation skills..
I practiced for hours and hours to do that video. NOT!!

As for Mark Silverthorn, doesn't he get the Golden collection agency award?

What About the 2008 Condor Awards?

Postby Raymond » Sat Dec 20, 2008 10:57:24 AM

I saw your Youtube presentation of the Canadaian Blogger Awards for 2008.

Let me know if Mark Silverthorn ever gets his Top 1500 Collection Agents' List finished. If you're talking with him again, tell him I'll be more than happy to emcee and hand out the 24K golden shovels.

Unlike you, I'll be wearing a tux. Oh hang on a second - I'd better wear coveralls too; I don't want manure getting all over it.

Great Post, Monty

The people of Ojmjakon (The coldest town on Earth) also welcome Dec.21. Today it's -76F, thanks to Global warming. I used to visit a Russian lady who lived near there when I was a kid. It's gotten as low as -96.3F!

Postby montyloree » Fri Dec 19, 2008 04:20:49 PM

I like December 21st much more than december 25th.
I like the fact that After December 21st the days start to get longer. all of a sudden I feel better about the winter.

The mid December solstice marks the beginning of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice occurs on December 21, 2008 at 7:04 AM EST and 12:04 UT (Universal Time).

In the Southern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice takes place on June 20, 2008 23:59 UT (Universal Time).

While the beginning of summer marks the longest
