All my debt was listed on the statement...PCF was always listed there and what was going to be owed every month to them. The statements were online, so I did check, but I guess I didn't check closely, all I was looking at was the number going down per month, not in detail. I will see what happens with CDR....thanks!

I would tell that to bad you in credit counselling your paying all you can Your credit report will be trash anyway cause your in credit counselling for I think it will be 3 years after your done. If they try and get a garishment order on you you have the right to go before a judge and tell your case. And if the Judge sees that your in credit counselling he isnt going to rule against you and as for the debt very surprised when you got your list of debt from the credit counselling that you have to pay each month that you didnt notice that the debt was not on the list. And if you saw you didnt mention it before hand I know some epople who did credit couselling and they use to get statelments from the credit people showing what is owed and how the payments were being applied. It took them 4 years to come out of credit counselling I have a debt I am fighting with the credit bureaus and lots of paper work so far I live in Ontario and this debt is listed as being from 2004 and it is Stats banned if I cant get it off till 2010

Ok, so basically then PCF assigned my debt to CDR to retrieve the funds.

To make a long story short, I had more debt with other creditors, I enrolled with a credt counselling agency back in Jan./06. They sent over proposals to all my creditors. I arranged a bi-monthly payment to the credit counsellors, iwhich I started to pay in jan/2006. It was to my shcok when I got a letter from CDR in June 2008, that PCF has assigned my debt to them to get money from me. I thought that ALL my debt was accepted from ALL my creditors. I called my credit counsellor to ask why this was happening. She looked into all the paperwork on my file, and she said that PCF didn't respond to any of the 3 faxed proposals from them. I couldn't belive that no one informed me of this from there. She tried to get that debt back onto the credit agency from CDR, but they refused. I am already paying through the nose every month to the credit couselling agency to get my debt payed off in 3 years. (this fall I will be done) from what I could afford monthly. I must say that they were good, they worked with me with all my bills and monthly expenses to come up with a payment I can handle. So when I called Donna @ CDR, and explained this, she accepted what would have been paid to PCF from what I paid NCCC monthly. Now they are asking for more from me. And threatening court. So just when there is a light at the end of the tunnel, there is a balck cloud hovering!

I don't think PCF sells their debts.

I had only one debt sold and that was to a company called contact resources services a.k.a crs .The debt purchasing place told me that Canadian tire sold the debt to them and I didn't believe them, till I call the creditor and they confirmed it.

Hi,
How do you know if your debt has been "sold" or "assigned" to the collection agency?

What is normally done with credit card creditors? Do they sell the debt or do they assign it normally?

I would like to know, it may help how I deal with CDR...

thanks,

They won't help you at the collection agency. I find law clinics a waste of time. Is the debt on your Equifax and Tran’s union file, if so I think you should fill out the dispute forms and see what response they give you? Then if you’re not satisfied with the credit bureaus result I would write to consumer’s affairs about your problem. I could send you the links to the dispute forms.

Cheers
