Making the decision to get out of debt is one thing. Coming up with the money to do it is another. Tap into all the resources you can to fund your get out of debt plan. There are two major ways to get more money to pay off your debts. The first is to decrease your expenses. The second is to increase your income.

Do more money but how? you need a lot. Some needs capital, others talents and all patience. if you all of these, you have no problem at all. Hmmm... just control your expenses.

I agree with lindachild as well. It's just the willpower to truly control the urge to splurge and think of things that truly matters. Do not live a lavish and extravagant life if you're finances will not and cannot permit it. Save for the rainy seasons!

Make more money....Thats another way to get debt relief too.

I agree with both camps actually. For most people I think spending well within their means and keeping an emergency fund worth 3-6 months salary will avoid the problem all together.

I couldn't agree less! I was drawn to the thread title, I believe if people only learn to diversify and be prudent enough with their expenses, no one will ever be in debt. Live within your means and do not slack or bum around, work hard! :)

If you're in debt - why not make more money?

I like Robert Kiyosaki's philosophy.
If you're doing it right, it doesn't matter if you're in debt, as long as your investments are making much more money than your debt repayments.

Many of the people on this site are in debt and having trouble. Why not start to earn more than your payments and then you'll naturally pull yourself out of debt.

Of course this is easier said than done, but it is the concept that is the interesting part.

That's why I put this Making Money area on the site. To stimulate the thoughts of making more than you owe. It is possible and it's a way to realize that debt is good, only if you're buying assets that go up in value. Not foolish consumer goods.
