well good to hear you are on the road to being debt free as I am too. Hard road ahead but we will get there! I will call PCF and see what I can do. I

Just actually received a voicemail from Donna @ CDR a few minutes ago. I guess they are after more money! well, let's hope she is in a good mood today.

Amen! I understand fully!
I too have 2 small children, rent, bills etc etc....but I too am trying to make good on what I owe....and it's a shame that they do not see that.
I have even tried taking a bank loan out to pay the whole amount owing to CDR....unfortunatly, it is a vicious circle....bad credit=no loan....no loan=bad credit until you manage to pay it off.
And I refuse to borrow from family members/friends----not good in any situation.

So until I am debt free, which is $1600 at $100/month....so in 16 months I will be free and clear, and until then I will have to put up with Chuck, and his minions at CDR unfortunatly.

I would call PC though, and ask them if there is anything that can be done to continue your payments....you calling ALONE, will make it look bad on CDR. PC will see that you are trying to pay, have been paying, and paying ontime which will make CDR look like morons for wanting to sue you for no good reason.
It worked for me....might help ease your mind a bit too. And this was only November of 2008 that I called PC......so maybe your call will open PC's eyes a bit and realize CDR is trying to go over their head and pull the power card that they do not posess, and they might just give Chuck ANOTHER call and maybe knock him down a peg or two on his pedistal.
I don't know, just my opinion and hopes I guess.

Enough calls though, and PC is going to get irritated, especially since it is the exact same scenario (no reason for threatening to sue) and they will maybe realize that the company that is, in a way, representing them, is giving them a bad rep. Atleast you can only hope that is what happens. Who knows nowadays.

Furriated,
I pay them 166.00 a month. I called them right away when I received their letter, spoke to Donna, made payment arrangements right away and sent cheques. Haven't missed a payment at all, and complied with everything they asked. Actually, Donna has been ok with me so far. Sorry to hear your bad run in with her. This is all so surreal! I just want to get my life back on track. ya I take full responsibilty for me getting to where I am with this, but after my divorce, 2 little kids, I found myself over my head. So I am taking responsibilty to pay back all my debt. But Chuck or CDR doesn't seem to see that I guess. I know there are some out there that dodge them but thye have to see the pthers that are truly genuine n getting this piad and out of their lives!

IF they take you to small claims court... and that's a big if... you simply counter for harassment. You may even get more than you owe that way if you keep records. The fact that you contacted them and made your payment before they started harassing you about it and tried to be reasonable is a big plus in your favour.

However, odds are good that PC has recalled the loan. I would contact PC, hopefully speaking to the same person you spoke to before, and ask if the loan can be recalled from this company or if it was sold. If they can recall the loan, I would suggest you simply make arrangements with PC directly.

Mine is PC credit card also.
Have you tried(I know it will be the most frustrating thing)calling them?

They have to have permission from the original debtor (Ibelieve) in order to sue you.
If PC says NO to them for suing you, they cannot.
I think if enough people complain to PC about CDR's ethics and how they try to get the money, PC is going to be sick of hearing it and might end up ditching CDR.
I know in my case, I called and complained to PC about CDR, and they called CDR and from what I gathered, were not too happy.
Plus how can they threaten to sue you if you were paying...EXACTLY what they did to me.
Threatened to sue me because I requested a new collector at CDR....if you were paying, it is just a scare tactic. They agreed with the payment plan, and you held up your end so you tell us, so they cannot sue you.

And even if they did.....they will end up getting far less I'm sure than they are getting now as a monthly payment due to your finacial standings (from what you told us).
I am barely able to pay them my $100 a month I have agreed upon, and the day will soon come that I will have to tell them I need a lesser monthly payment....I can't wait to hear the backlash of that one. :(

Hi,
My debt with PC is a credit card. Sorry, the year was wrong in my post, I started with CDR in July 2008. So far on with them for 6 months. Actually, I'm kind of getting worried, I have not received a call from Donna or anyone there looking for more post dated cheques...:(

The debt with president's choice a credit card debt, line of credit or an overdraft. I might be able to give you a contact number to call and maybe you can settle this matter through them, just like I did.

Cheers

This is what has since happened since my last post........
Thinking they were going to sue me, I did not pay my next months payment (wy would I when they will have nothing to do with my calls or inquiries?)
So I get a call from Donna again just after my payment was due....again, no "Hello" just "why havn't you paid?" as soon as I pick up the phone.
So I explain to her that I do not think it is logical that I pay someone who refuses to interact with me or answer my calls.
Then she jumps topic and says "Why did you call PCFinalncial (my original debtor) and tell them we were being rude to you?"

Ummmmm, earth to sanity! Because you were I said.

So she sighs and starts talking like a human to me (whether this phone call was being recorded is unknown, but my only explaination why she was being so nice).
She then goes on to say "You are so young, you don't want this debt to follow you, you want to buy a house and nice car one day right?" ETC ETC
I entertain her fake empathy and say "That is why I CALLED YOU GUYS to clear this up"

Anyways she goes on to say things and I make payment arrangements with her and make a payment right while speaking with her...........................................Long and short of it......
THEY SAY THEY WILL SUE>>>>BUT OBVLIOUSLY WON'T.

It would take them more money to go to small claims court, and will only recieve minimal payments sans interest...so it is more than likly the ball is in your court.

Hi,
I too am with CDR in Richmondhill. I started with them in July 2007. They aggreed on a monthly payment, and it has been 6 months, But now I am threatened to be maybe taken to court. How can they do that? I have not missed a payment, sent them the cheques they requested, always returned calls. Chuck is now questioning my payment amounts, says it is too low, and he wants full payment, if I don't then he may take me to court. I'm new to this, not too sure how these agencies work. What happens if it goes to court? I have no money at the end of each month to pay. Can the courts make me pay Chucks new amount? HELP!
