After applying for capital one card, usually it takes 24 to 48 hours to verify your status with the credit bureaus and once you get approval, it will take one or two week to get your capital one card.

darrylrio I know this is years later but I was eager to get my card because I was looking forward to rebuilding my credit. Also sometimes people have things in life that require credit cards and maybe someone out there is anxious to know if they will get it in time for that business trip or what ever.

Other people have disabilities that make not knowing something simple as a guestimated time frame a highly stressful situation. Just trying to help out the odd lurker looking for a time frame. And it was not 10 days, it was over a month.

Anyway.. with thanks to this card for giving me a chance to prove myself, my credit rating is nearing 800.

The last time that I checked, this website was called CANADIAN MONEY ADVISOR, not "American Money Advisor" Keep all this Chapter 7 Bankruptcy CRAP off of this website. It has no application in Canada.

Upon approval it usually takes about 7 to 10 days. Sometimes you can call them after approval on line and get the number to use until you get the card in the mail.

You are a disaster waiting to start on your financial ruin. WHY? You are way to anxious to get the card and start using it. YES, it takes about 10 days ans sometimes as little as 5.

How long it actually takes to get your Capital One card

As many of you may be very eager to get your credit card and start building/rebuilding your credit, I htought I would let you know how long it actually took to get the actual credit card in my hands.

Thursday Jan 24/08 - After learning about Capital One Sercured Credit card from this wonderful site, I applied online and posted here to share my joy: /threadview/831.html.

I even got to pick out the design I wanted on the card :)

Thursday January 31/08 - I received a letter in the mail from Capital One saying I was approved for $500 credit for ONLY a $75 deposit (!!!). I honestly thought that I would have been stuck at their lowest level of 100% deposit for the secured, but Capital One clearly has more faith in me then I did at this point. It really did lift my spirits knowing that I am not as far off from decent credit than I had originally thought.

Monday Feb 4/08 - I mailed Capital One my $75 cheque.

Monday Feb 11/08 - My bank shows that the cheque was cashed and the money is taken out of my account.

And now the long LONG wait...

Friday February 29/08 - I received my card in the mail. yaY!!

The credit card looks like a normal credit card, meaning it doesn't say "secured" on it anywhere, which I was worried it would. The letter is pretty positive (as one would suspect) and reminds you that they will check your status periodically to determine whether you can get an increase and/or your security deposit returned.

So the whole thing took just over 5 weeks.
